<p>For a limited time period, this position offers up to $50,000 in Signing Bonus for external applicants as well as internal per diem to full time conversions.</p> <p>Summary</p> <p>The NM-PET/CT technologist uses radioactive materials in specialized studies of body organs and/or laboratory analysis to assist the physician in diagnosis and injury. Perform technical procedures, including the control of ionizing radiation producing equipment for radiological diagnosis.</p> <p>Experience</p> <p>Minimum of one year experience preferred.</p> <p>Education</p> <p>Certification from an approved Radiological Technology Program (Two years).</p> <p>Licenses:</p> <p>ARRT(R)(NM) or RT(NMT) certification required, Advanced RT(R)(CT) certification preferred.</p> <p>Essential Functions</p> <ul> <li> <p>Perform equipment quality control, both daily and quarterly and maintain records of same</p> </li><li> <p>Maintain equipment and procedure repairs, as needed</p> </li><li> <p>Dose management and administration</p> </li><li> <p>Prepare and administer proper radiopharmaceuticals for diagnostic procedures</p> </li><li> <p>Prepare therapeutic doses for administration by radiologist</p> </li><li> <p>Promotes culture that fosters caring, quality, teamwork, and fiscal responsibility</p> </li><li> <p>Use two forms of patient identification for all patient interactions</p> </li><li> <p>Initiates and places IV</p> </li><li> <p>Maintain records of all radioactive material in department from reception to use of and then to final disposal.</p> </li><li> <p>Properly dispose of used radioactive material through return of manufacturer or by holding until proper disposal limits have been reached</p> </li><li> <p>Enforce radiation and general safety rules and regulations</p> </li></ul> <p>Other Duties</p> <ul> <li>Maintains clean, safe work environment. </li><li>Provide patient care within the technologists' scope of practice. </li><li>Complete understanding of the functionality of the EPIC and PACS programs as they relate to NM/PET. </li><li>Maintain other records with the RSO as required by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission and other regulatory agencies. </li><li>Procure and maintain inventory or radiopharmaceuticals and other items needed to ensure operation of department. </li><li>Maintain regulated annual competencies. </li><li>Participate in patient and employee satisfaction improvement initiatives. </li></ul> <p>Contacts:</p> <p>A. Internal: Extensive contact with patients, radiologists, nursing personnel, receptionists, patient transporters, PSS staff, referring physicians.</p> <p>B. External: Contact with Radiopharmaceutical vendors to establish daily doses and discuss new services. Service engineers to maintain equipment function.</p> <p>C. Patient Care: The staff member must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide direct patient care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his/her unit. Age groups can include infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric.</p> <p>Equipment Used</p> <p>Nuclear Medicine and PET/CT equipment including but not limited to imaging equipment, power injectors, treadmill.</p> <p>Physical Demands:</p> <p>Sitting, standing, stooping, stretching, lifting, and assisting patients from stretchers/wheelchairs to examining tables. Able to push patients' beds and wheelchairs.</p> <p>Mental Demands:</p> <p>Ability to effectively deal with patients who may be under physical and emotional stress. Specialized duties including but not limited to planning and prioritizing own work; clear objectives that impact others; varied procedures and techniques; non-routine, technical, treatment, operational problems and general guidance.</p> <p>Job Hazards:</p> <ul> <li>Normal irradiation hazards. </li><li>Occasional exposure to minor hazards that could cause relatively minor injury (first aid - type injuries) or illness </li></ul> <p>Working Conditions:</p> <p>Constant exposure to patients and radiopharmaceuticals, as well as patients with need for isolation precautions.</p> <p>Exposure Category</p> <p>CATEGORY 1 -- Employees whose tasks involve exposure to blood, body fluids, or other tissues. Exposure to communicable diseases.</p> <p>Quality Statement:</p> <p>A goal of this position is to ensure that all contacts and customers receive quality services.
