<p>WAYLAND PUBLIC SCHOOLS</p> <p>WAYLAND SCHOOL COMMUNITY PROGRAMS COORDINATOR</p> <p>TITLE:</p> <p>Coordinator of Out-of-School Time Program</p> <p>2025-2026 School Year</p> <p>POSITION SUMMARY:</p> <p>The Coordinator of the Out-of-School Time (OST) Program for Wayland School Community Programs oversees the daily operations of OST programs, including after-school, early release days, vacation weeks, summer programs, enrichment, and tutoring programs. The role focuses on program development, staff training, and budget management, ensuring high-quality care for students in grades K-12. The program operates from dismissal until 6:00 PM, including early release days, vacation weeks, and summer sessions. The mission is to provide high-quality, affordable Out-of-School Time care that complements classroom learning with engaging, hands-on experiences.</p> <p>The Coordinator plays a key role in supporting students' academic, social, and emotional growth. The role incorporates innovative strategies such as recreational enrichment, STEAM, Service Learning, Entrepreneurial programming, and Socio-Emotional Learning (SEL).</p> <p>TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:</p> <ul> <li>Minimum of three (3) years of experience working with school-age children in a supervisory role. </li><li>Bachelor's Degree required, preferably in education or a related field. </li></ul> <p>SKILLS AND ABILITIES:</p> <ul> <li>Knowledge of best practices in OST program administration and curriculum development. </li><li>Ability to manage program budgets, registration, and evaluation. </li><li>Strong leadership, team-building, and communication skills. </li><li>Experience working closely with school administration and community organizations. </li><li>Proficiency in Microsoft and Google applications. </li><li>Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities. </li><li>Experience working in community-based programs with an understanding of urban issues. </li><li>Ability to travel for meetings, training, and workshops. </li></ul> <p>ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <ul> <li>Plan, develop, and evaluate programs to meet state and district objectives. </li><li>Manage program budgets and registration in collaboration with the Director. </li><li>Ensure compliance with EEC and/or DESE program requirements. </li><li>Supervise and coach staff, providing opportunities for professional development. </li><li>Conduct regular staff meetings and foster a productive, positive work environment. </li><li>Develop partnerships with parents, community leaders, and organizations. </li><li>Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Wayland School Community Programs. </li></ul> <p>ORGANIZATIONAL LEADERSHIP:</p> <ul> <li>Foster a positive work environment and be visible and available to the team. </li><li>Exhibit professionalism, communicate staff expectations clearly, and solve program challenges proactively. </li><li>Respond effectively to crises and unexpected situations. </li><li>Encourage staff input, new ideas, and suggestions. </li><li>Keep staff informed about schedule and policy changes, budget issues, and program updates. </li><li>Plan and lead organized, productive staff meetings. </li><li>Monitor program effectiveness and explore avenues for improvement, regularly soliciting staff feedback. </li></ul> <p>STAFF SUPPORT:</p> <ul> <li>Model effective strategies in behavior management, teaching, and parent communication. </li><li>Actively engage with children and encourage independence, ensuring the classroom environment is nurturing and supportive. </li><li>Assist staff in managing challenging behaviors with positive, consistent interventions. </li><li>Provide supervision and feedback in a non-judgmental, supportive manner. </li><li>Act as a resource for staff and encourage communication between staff and parents. </li></ul> <p>RELATIONSHIP WITH PARENTS:</p> <ul> <li>Maintain a positive rapport with families and provide guidance and support as needed. </li><li>Effectively communicate the program's mission and educational philosophy. </li><li>Encourage parent participation and make them feel welcomed and involved. </li></ul> <p>PROGRAMMING SUPPORT:</p> <ul> <li>Support developmentally appropriate, open-ended activities that foster creativity and exploration. </li><li>Guide children in positive social interactions and resolving conflicts. </li><li>Ensure the physical and emotional well-being of children in all program settings. </li></ul> <p>PLANNING:</p> <ul> <li>Ensure predictable daily routines and collaborate with the team to implement them effectively. </li><li>Regularly reassess and adapt the classroom and outdoor learning environments to enhance children's experiences. </li><li>Provide equal opportunities for all children to engage in activities, being sensitive to their individual needs. </li></ul> <p>PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <ul> <li>Attend all required staff meetings, trainings, and parent functions. </li><li>Be punctual, reliable, and maintain a professional demeanor. </li><li>Manage time effectively and complete tasks in a timely manner. </li><li>Support program policies, procedures, and the overall philosophy of WSCP. </li><li>Stay up-to-date on health and safety protocols and respond to emergencies appropriately. </li><li>Demonstrate a commitment to continuous professional development through workshops, reading, and coursework. </li></ul> <p>PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Must be able to move throughout the school building and remain stationary for periods of time. </li><li>Occasionally required to reach, kneel, crouch, or lift items weighing up to 20 lbs. </li><li>Frequent use of computers and office equipment. </li><li>Must be able to interact with students, parents, and staff in various physical spaces, including outdoors. </li></ul> <p>REPORTS TO:</p> <p>Director of Wayland School Community Programs</p> <p>SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <p>Supervises OST Programs and Summer Program</p> <p>FAIR LABOR STANDARDS ACT (FLSA)
