<p>Position Summary</p> <p>In this role, you will work with a small team which manages, tracks and maintains a fleet of approximately 1250 vehicles for state employee use including motorcycles, sedans, pickup trucks, vans, bucket trucks and other heavy equipment.</p> <p>Daily tasks for this position include, but are not limited to:</p> <ul> <li>Approving or denying vehicle maintenance requests based on appropriateness of the work and cost </li><li>Utilizing Microsoft Office Suite and other software applications and databases to track vehicle upfits, maintain warranty information, communicate with vendors, and review/edit vehicle specifications. </li><li>Communicating with repair shops about vehicle repairs. </li><li>Reviewing vehicle upfit specifications with manufacturers such as lighting, shelving, and aerials. </li><li>Cleaning/inspecting fleet vehicles to ensure they are safe for road operations. Inspections may include checking fluid levels, tire pressure, and replacing wiper blades and batteries as needed. </li><li>Removing lightbars and other equipment from vehicles. Proper removal of equipment may require removal of interior/exterior trim pieces, disconnecting fasteners, and removal of wiring. </li><li>Installing/Removing vehicle decals </li><li>Receiving new vehicles and preparing surplus vehicles for disposal </li></ul> <p>Salary Information</p> <p>This position is in schedule-range (07-04) with a salary of $27 - $35.06 per hour, plus excellent benefits. A twelve-month probationary period is required. Pay for current state employees will be set in accordance with the Wisconsin State Compensation Plan.</p> <p>Job Details</p> <p>Hired candidates must be able to meet the WisDOT fleet standards for driving a state vehicle.</p> <p>The incumbent must have knowledge of and the ability to drive automatic vehicles on a daily basis. Vehicles will be driven intrastate and will not cross state lines.</p> <p>This position will occasionally travel to other locations outside of Madison, WI for work purposes.</p> <p>This position will be tasked with climbing in and out of, under and on equipment, working in varied weather conditions and climate differences on a daily basis.</p> <p>WisDOT does not sponsor work visas. WisDOT is not enrolled in USCIS E-Verify and is not eligible to employ international F-1 students seeking STEM-OPT extension. Any appointment made will be contingent on the applicant being able to prove valid status to work in the United States.</p> <p>Prior to any appointments for position(s) filled from this announcement, candidates may be subject to a comprehensive criminal background check which may include FBI fingerprinting.</p> <p>Qualifications</p> <p>A minimally qualified candidate must detail having training or experience in all of the areas listed below in order to be considered:</p> <ul> <li>Experience performing automotive fleet services operations (such as procurement/disposal of company fleet vehicles {cars, trucks, vans, etc.}, managing vehicle assignments, and/or monitoring vehicle inventory). </li><li>Education, training, and/or work experience related to gasoline and diesel fueled vehicles/equipment (Examples could include: ensuring compliance with preventative maintenance schedules, performing repair work, diagnosing/interpreting diagnostic trouble codes, or similar responsibilities). </li><li>Providing customer service to customers/clients (e.g. in-person, electronic, and/or phone communication etc.) </li></ul> <p>In addition to having both of the above, a well-qualified candidate will also detail having training and or experience in one or more of the following:</p> <ul> <li>Developing vehicle specifications </li><li>Developing and implementing a fleetwide preventative maintenance schedule </li><li>Developing an annual project plan for vehicle acquisitions/disposals </li><li>Managing vehicle equipment upfits (such as lighting, shelving units, and/or aerials.) </li><li>Automotive Service Excellence (ASE), manufacturer, or similar training/certification(s) </li><li>Possession of a Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Air Brake Endorsement </li></ul> <p>How To Apply</p> <p>Apply online!
