Physicians provide a comprehensive range of primary and specialty care services at the 333-bed hospital and outpatient facilities both on and off of the Eskenazi Health downtown campus including at a network of Eskenazi Health Center sites located throughout Indianapolis.</p> <p>FLSA Status</p> <p>Non-Exempt</p> <p>Job Role Summary</p> <p>The Housing Specialist engages and assists in the admission, on-boarding, and orientation of new residents. The Housing Specialist ensures a safe milieu through regular engagement with residents, non-violent crisis intervention, and structured individual and group activities.</p> <p>Essential Functions and Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Proactively contributes to Eskenazi Health's mission: Advocate, Care, Teach and Serve with special emphasis on the vulnerable population of Marion County; models Eskenazi Health's values of Professionalism, Respect, Innovation, Development and Excellence </li><li>Embraces, understands, and operates under the Recovery Model, including AIDET (Acknowledge, Introduce, Duration, Explanation, Thank You) and the spirit of motivational interviewing. </li><li>Engages residents using Motivational Interviewing and framed by the Recovery Model to acclimate them to the facility and next steps in their recovery </li><li>Assists the resident in activities of daily living </li><li>Provides crisis management and emergency interventions including but not limited to Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Crisis Prevention Institute interventions </li><li>May provide transportation in personal or company provided vehicle as directed by treatment team and guided by program necessity; maintains a copy of Eskenazi Health's vehicle-related accident reporting procedures in vehicle </li><li>Advocates for residents to ensure access to needed services which includes developing community relationships and resources </li><li>Ensures clear communication to the facility team, the primary care teams, and leadership of resident successes, barriers, and progress </li><li>Assists with self-administration of medications, conduct safety checks, engages in activities that promote resident recovery, assists in meal preparation, and performs other such duties as assigned by supervisor and within scope of practice </li><li>Establishes and maintains a safe environment at all times through on-going assessment of milieu/appointment environment </li><li>Meets the agency's standard of timely completion of all required documentation according to guidelines for timeliness and accuracy </li><li>Meets agency requirements for continuing education </li></ul> <p>Job Requirements</p> <ul> <li>High School Diploma or equivalent, plus </li></ul> <p>o One year of experience in behavioral health or substance use disorder treatment; or</p> <p>o Certification as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT); or</p> <p>o Equivalent post-secondary education such as a bachelor's or associate's degree</p> <ul> <li>Valid Indiana driver's license that meets Eskenazi Health's driving policy requirements </li></ul> <p>Knowledge, Skills & Abilities</p> <ul> <li>Knowledge </li></ul> <p>o Basic knowledge of behavioral health and addiction</p> <p>o Basic knowledge of substance use disorders and/or co-occurring disorder</p> <p>o Basic knowledge of medical terminology</p> <p>o Knowledge of basic learning principles</p> <p>o Knowledge of community resources</p> <p>o Knowledge of hands-on resident care</p> <p>o Advanced knowledge of client rights and responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Skills </li></ul> <p>o Familiarity and comfort with basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office</p> <p>o Crisis intervention skills</p> <p>o Strong interpersonal skills</p> <ul> <li>Abilities </li></ul> <p>o Willingness to learn and grow within a person-centered treatment environment</p> <p>o Ability to be both clear and concise in written and verbal communications</p> <p>o Ability to work cooperatively in a multidisciplinary team</p> <p>o Ability to think critically and problem-solve efficiently</p> <p>o Ability to provide hands-on client care</p> <p>o Ability to perform safety interventions including physical safety interventions</p> <p>o Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs</p> <p>o Must meet all population-specific competencies for role and service area</p> <p>Accredited by The Joint Commission and named as one of Indiana's best employers by Forbes magazine for two consecutive years and the top hospital in the state for community benefit by the Lown Institute, Eskenazi Health's programs have received national recognition while also offering new health care opportunities to the local community.
