<p>General Summary</p> <p>Applicants do not have to qualify for work-study funds from Financial Aid.</p> <p>Starting rate for new hires is $16.00 per hour.</p> <p>Up to 20 hours per week across all student positions.</p> <p>SELECTION PROCESS</p> <p>Preliminary screening will be made on the basis of completed application package submitted by candidate. Completed application package includes</p> <ul> <li> <p>A submitted application</p> </li><li> <p>A copy of current class schedule.</p> </li><li> <p>Students may copy their class schedule from eWolf and paste into a Word document. Then save it to your desktop in order to upload to the application in the "Attachments" step.</p> </li><li> <p>You can also attach a cover letter and/or resume, but it is not required.</p> </li></ul> <p>All application materials become the property of Front Range Community College and cannot be copied. FRCC will conduct a criminal background check on selected candidate. Peer Tutors provide course specific, drop-in group tutoring, and one-on-one tutoring for FRCC coursework they have previously completed successfully. Peer Tutors do not attend course meetings; they tutor students across all sections of the courses they support. Peer Tutors maintain ongoing contact with the Academic Success Center, and course instructors as needed.</p> <ul> <li>This application is for active students interested in tutoring: ACC, AST, BIO, CHE, EMS, MUS, PHI 1012 & 1013, PHY, PSY, VET. </li><li>For Math and CSC, please use the Supplemental Instruction Leader application. You do need to apply for both positions if you are interested in both peer tutoring and Supplemental Instruction. NOTE: Supplemental Instruction Leader application is now closed for Sping '25 positions. Please talk with your campus ASC Coordinator for applying for the fall. </li><li>We will consider other subjects based on candidate interest and student demand. </li><li>Students may also apply to be a Peer Mentor. Peer Mentors assist students with learning strategies, study skills, basic digital literacy, and navigating the college experience. Please use the application for your campus with the job post title "Peer Mentor". </li></ul> <p>PRIMARY DUTIES</p> <ul> <li>Assist students in gaining effective study skills and maximizing their potential for academic success. </li><li>Knowledgeable in the content area for the supported tutoring subject to assist other students with course learning. </li><li>Meet individually or small group study sessions with students as regularly scheduled. </li><li>Serve as back up support to professional tutors by providing one-on-one tutoring when requested by ASC staff. </li><li>Create activities and other artifacts to help students improve their understanding of course content. </li><li>Attend bi-weekly team meetings. </li><li>Collect and report attendance data and submit bi-weekly paperwork to the Academic Success Center. </li><li>Attend and participate in any required training and meetings with the Academic Support Center, including training the week before the start of each semester. </li><li>Communicate as needed with the Academic Support Center staff to ensure tutoring is meeting student needs. </li></ul> <p>Required Competencies</p> <p>TIME COMMITMENT AND REQUIRED TRAINING DATES</p> <ul> <li>Work a minimum of 5 hours a week (up to 20 hours based on availability, need and funding). </li><li>Attend training prior to the start of the semester and complete online training components as directed. Other trainings will be offered in the beginning of semester as needed. </li><li>Pre-semester training will be 1-3 days the week before school starts. </li><li>Complete additional required training and professional development sponsored through FRCC. </li></ul> <p>REQUIRED COMPETENCIES</p> <ul> <li>Ability to work five or more hours per week. </li><li>Time management skills. </li><li>Organizational skills. </li><li>Reliable and friendly communication style. </li><li>Genuine interest in helping other students' success and/or genuine interest in explaining course materials so others can succeed. </li><li>Basic computer skills (MS Office, emails, MyCourses). </li><li>Willingness to use empathy and emotional intelligence is encouraged. </li><li>Applicants do not have to qualify for work-study funds from Financial Aid. </li><li>Effective communication and interpersonal skills. </li><li>Capacity to work with students with diverse backgrounds. </li><li>Commitment to work a flexible time schedule. </li><li>Genuine interest in assisting students to succeed academically. </li></ul> <p>EXPECTATIONS• Follow all procedures and policies set by the Academic Success Center.• Represent the Academic Success Center professionally: Act in a professional manner, and be approachable, sensitive to, and respectful of the student's needs. Maintain your own academic success and seek help from ASC when needed.• Be prepared and be on time for each tutoring session.• Be familiar with campus resources available to students.• Keep all information on students you work with confidential.• Support and care about student success.• Support the values of the College: diversity, teaching excellence, student success, innovation and creativity, and service to the College.</p> <p>Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Must be a FRCC student enrolled in at least 6 credits for the current semester </li><li>Earned grade of B or higher in the selected course(s). </li><li>3.0 or higher overall GPA with the college. </li><li>Applicants do not have to qualify for work-study funds from Financial Aid. </li></ul> <p>Notice to Prospective Employees: Front Range Community College is required by the Clery Act of 1990 to notify prospective employees, current employees, students and applicants where to access our Campus Security Report.
