Some positions have additional requirements as established by Federal or State Rules and Regulations.</p> <p>General Function:</p> <p>Under general supervision teaches approved SFPS curriculum to students of all abilities, thereby promoting artistic growth, and providing appropriate art activities.</p> <p>Education/Training/Experience</p> <p>(Basic minimum requirements are subject to change from time to time to meet the needs of the District.)</p> <p>Minimum Bachelor's degree. NM teaching license with visual arts endorsement.</p> <p>Preferred: At least one year's previous teaching experience.</p> <p>Knowledge/Skills and Abilities:</p> <p>Knowledge of visual arts pedagogy. Familiarity with a broad range of materials and techniques in the visual arts as defined in the Scope and Sequence guides. Ability to manage classroom and differentiate instruction. Ability to collaborate with classroom teachers to integrate the arts into other areas of the core curriculum. Computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office, Microsoft Outlook; knowledge of data base program preferred.</p> <p>Essential Job Functions</p> <p>All functions are performed in accordance with established policies, procedures, safety and environmental regulations, facility and computer security policies and procedures. Functions are subject to change from time to time to meet the needs of the organization. Current essential functions include the following:</p> <ol> <li> <p>Promotes an environment/climate conducive to creative visual arts education.</p> </li><li> <p>Communicates effectively with school principal, colleagues, and arts education coordinator.</p> </li><li> <p>Provides lesson plans that are aligned to the SFPS art curricula (SFPS art curricula are aligned to state/national standards) and incorporates Common Core subject areas.</p> </li><li> <p>Assesses students according to district practice.</p> </li><li> <p>Coordinates with visiting artists and community arts organizations to enrich the arts program.</p> </li><li> <p>Orders and maintains materials & tools.</p> </li><li> <p>Displays student art at school site(s) throughout the school year on assigned bulletin boards as well as contributes to district, state and community art shows.</p> </li><li> <p>Attends monthly district art faculty meetings.</p> </li><li> <p>Instructs and plans for the visual arts program at the site(s) assigned during the nine-month contract.</p> </li><li> <p>Ensures the adequate supervision of students.</p> </li><li> <p>Establishes and maintains rapport with students in a manner that encourages self-expression, higher order thinking skills, and joyous risk-taking.</p> </li><li> <p>Motivates students to achieve maximum potential.</p> </li><li> <p>Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities.</p> </li><li> <p>Works collaboratively with staff, families, and community resources to support the success of a diverse student population.</p> </li><li> <p>Complies with and supports school and district regulations and policies.</p> </li><li> <p>Models non-discriminatory practices in all activities.</p> </li><li> <p>Other duties as assigned.</p> </li></ol> <p>Salary Range:</p> <p>Based on education, experience, and level of NM Teaching License.</p> <p>Tier 1 License: $55,000+</p> <p>Tier 2 License: $65,000+</p> <p>Tier 3 License: $75,000+</p> <p>Resources Used in Performing Job Include (but are not limited to):</p> <p>A wide variety of instructional materials and resources including electronic/digital equipment</p> <p>Physical/Cognitive Requirements:</p> <p>Lifting of heavy art equipment and materials including but not limited to; clay, boxes of supplies, books, etc. Must be able to spend most of the day on your feet. Vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; visual acuity is required, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work, and observing general surroundings and activities; the worker is subject to inside and outside environmental conditions, noise and hazards. Occasional movement of students by wheelchairs and other mechanical devices may be required. Regular instruction to special needs students may be necessary. Regular contact with students to provide a positive learning environment is required. Contact with administrators, staff members, parents, and community members is required. Frequent contact with parents by phone and in person is necessary.</p> <p>Environmental Conditions:</p> <p>Duties performed typically in school settings to include: art room, classrooms, gym, hallways where art is displayed. Teacher will be subject to indoor and outdoor environmental conditions, noise, and hazards.</p> <p>Personal Accountability:</p> <ul> <li>Demonstrates reliability as evidenced by attendance records and punctuality </li><li>Properly notifies supervisor and/or designee of absences or tardiness </li><li>Begins and completes work within the allotted time </li><li>Consistently appears in attire appropriate to the work environment </li><li>Demonstrates skill in the use of equipment including its capabilities, limitations and appropriate/special application </li><li>Protects the District's resources through appropriate and careful use of supplies and equipment </li><li>Utilizes appropriate body mechanics to aid in the prevention of muscle strain/injury </li></ul>
