If you're passionate about making a meaningful impact and being part of a forward-thinking organization, this is the company for you!</p> <p>Job Description</p> <p>What You'll Do:</p> <p>You'll be responsible to the assigned supervisor for performing advance engineering work activities and projects requiring the application of engineering knowledge in a safe, effective, efficient and economic accomplishment of assigned objectives.</p> <p>Skills You Need:</p> <p>Qualified candidates shall possess knowledge of geotechnical engineering principles through education and/or demonstrated project experience related to the following core areas:</p> <ul> <li>Earthwork, retaining wall, slope stability and landslide mitigation design </li><li>Foundation design (drilled piers, steel grillages, steel caissons, micro piles, helical piles, driven piles, and guy anchors), </li><li>Subsurface investigations and desktop geologic research </li><li>Geotechnical construction </li></ul> <p>Principal Geotechnical Engineer is expected to review and seal foundation and landslide mitigation designs as assigned. Successful candidates will possess the following professional skills:</p> <ul> <li>Leadership </li><li>High-impact communication </li><li>Positive disposition </li><li>Collaboration </li><li>Planning and organization </li></ul> <p>Nice to Have:</p> <p>Desired software knowledge/experience:</p> <ul> <li>SLOPE/W (or equivalent) slope stability software </li><li>FAD Tools, LPILE, SHAFT, GROUP, etc. foundation design software </li><li>Civil 3D </li></ul> <p>Travel (~20%) is required for this position and will consist of trips to the field to diagnose geotechnical issues related to electric transmission lines and substations. Hours are Monday through Friday, 8 hours per day. Some OT may be required, as approved.</p> <p>What We're Looking For:</p> <p>We're seeking a Principal Geotechnical Engineer in the New Albany, OH or Rnaoke, VA vicinity with eight (8) or more years of experience or six (6) years of experience plus a Master's degree or PhD in geotechnical engineering or PhD in engineering from a program accredited by ABET.</p> <ul> <li>ABET - Engineering Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology. (VP or above can waive ABET Accreditation requirement) </li></ul> <p>Professional Engineering (PE) certification in one (1) state is required with the ability to gain licensure in other states within AEP's footprint (Virginia, West Virginia, Kentucky, Tennessee, Ohio, Indiana, Michigan, Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, Arkansas).</p> <p>Acceptable alternatives are:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (non-ABET), plus a Professional Engineers (PE) license in any state of the U.S. or </li><li>Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (non-ABET) plus a Master's degree in Civil Engineering (focus in geotechnical engineering) from a university with an ABET accredited Bachelor's program. </li></ul> <p>Where You'll Work:</p> <p>On-Site in either New Albany, OH or Roanoke, VA</p> <p>What You'll Get:</p> <p>Engineer Principal (Grade 09) $130,000 - $155,000</p> <p>In addition to a competitive compensation, AEP offers a unique comprehensive benefits package that aims to support and enhance the overall well-being of our employees.</p> <p>Compensation Data</p> <p>Compensation Grade:</p> <p>SP20-009</p> <p>Compensation Range:</p> <p>$112,869.00-146,730.50 USD</p> <p>The Physical Demand Level for this job is: S - Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally (Occasionally: activity or condition exists up to 1/3 of the time) and/or a negligible amount of force frequently.
