<p>Job Description:</p> <p>Region 14 Vacancy</p> <p>POSITION: Agriscience Long Term Substitute</p> <p>LOCATION: Nonnewaug High School</p> <p>START DATE: Approximately 4/6/2026 through 1/5/2027</p> <p>DEADLINE DATE: 3/16/2026</p> <p>GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <p>A Nonnewaug High School agriscience teacher works to implement the comprehensive 3 circle model of agriscience education across classes. Nonnewaug High School agriscience teachers are leaders in their field and specialize in meeting students' needs in and across a variety of State and National Standards. NHS agriscience teachers work with their instructional leader to continually develop cutting edge curricula and lessons that meet the needs of all students. A deep understanding of tier one intervention instruction is needed. Nonnewaug High School agriscience teachers strive for excellence and challenge students with a rigorous approach while co-planning with departments across the school.</p> <p>The candidate must demonstrate:</p> <ul> <li>Instruct in accordance with the Region 14 teacher job description </li><li>Develop and deliver a comprehensive agriscience curriculum (to include veterinary science 10, veterinary science 11/12, amongst other things) </li><li>Consult and collaborate with teachers, staff, and parents in understanding and meeting the needs of students in the school setting </li><li>Confer with families and professionals in the school and community for the best interests of the students </li><li>Plan, evaluate, and revise the agriscience courses and programs </li><li>Perform additional duties, where appropriate, which are assigned within the scope of employment and certification (to include potential SAE visits) </li><li>Collaborate with teaching colleagues on subject area teams </li><li>Demonstrate willingness to seek and act on feedback from other instructional leaders, colleagues, and administrators </li><li>Establish and maintain frequent communication with parents, guardians, and families </li><li>Evaluate student needs based on data and employ a variety of instructional strategies to meet these needs </li><li>Collaborate with support staff and interventionists to develop and evaluate progress towards meeting measurable goals and objectives </li><li>Participate in professional learning opportunities provided by the district and incorporate new learning into instructional practices </li><li>Maintain PowerSchool gradebook that reflects the intended curriculum and recognizes our Vision of a Learner attributes </li><li>Understands the importance of data driven decision making and the impact it has on teaching and learning </li></ul> <p>SALARY: By Contract</p> <p>WORK YEAR: By Contract</p> <p>QUALIFICATIONS: State of Connecticut Vocational Agriculture (040/041) Required</p> <p>UNION AFFILIATION: Nonnewaug Teachers Association</p> <p>Candidates of diverse backgrounds are encouraged to apply.</p> <p>APPLY ONLINE:</p> <p>Letter of intent</p> <p>Resume</p> <p>3 letters of reference</p> <p>Transcripts</p> <p>Proof of Certification</p> <p>The Regional School District 14 Board of Education does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, marital status, national/ethnic origin, age, sex, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, or disability in its programs, activities, and employment practices as set forth in compliance with the Office of Civil Rights, Title VI, Title IX, and Section 504.
