For a map of our area, and links to activities and places, view westernwyoming.edu/outsider. </li></ul> <p>See where your career can take you when you come run with the Mustangs!</p> <p>PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES FOR WHICH THIS INDIVIDUAL IS ACCOUNTABLE</p> <ol> <li> <p>Provides quality instruction to students in assigned courses, including, but not limited to the following: General Biology (STEM majors and non-STEM majors), Microbiology, Human Anatomy and Physiology, Plant and Fungal Biology, Animal Biology, and Ecology.</p> </li><li> <p>Provides quality learning experiences for enrolled students, in accordance with their needs and abilities, while maintaining the basic integrity of the course's standards and objectives. Motivates students through careful preparation of course materials, use of effective teaching methodologies, and provides substantive feedback on assignments and discussions.</p> </li><li> <p>Follows department objectives and criteria for each course, as well as the Curriculum Committee's guidelines regarding course syllabi. Evaluates student performance while considering course objectives and criteria.</p> </li><li> <p>Teaches courses on dates and times as assigned by the School Dean. Provides leadership to adjunct and concurrent faculty on the design and delivery of common course content.</p> </li><li> <p>Advises students clearly and effectively. Communicates requirements for Western graduation and for transfer to other regional colleges and universities. Contributes current advising information to the Western Advising Handbook, including Western curricula at the University of Wyoming and other regional universities. Attends annual advisor training sessions.</p> </li><li> <p>Recommends course schedules to the School Dean and Department Chair. Mentors adjunct instructors as assigned. Revises existing courses to maintain currency and develops new courses as needed.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintains an appropriate schedule of office hours which serve on-campus and distance education students. Develops effective working relationships with professionals in the respective school and with other employees in the college's service area. Utilizes advisory recommendations for curricular planning, recruitment, and other functions.</p> </li><li> <p>Assists in the College's student recruitment program by cooperating with the Director of Admissions and Advising, visiting area schools, encouraging students to attend Western, and promoting the value of the college.</p> </li><li> <p>Stays current by attending conferences, seminars, and workshops, and by reading appropriate professional literature.</p> </li><li> <p>Utilizes and refers students to campus resources as needed, including Center for Teaching and Learning (CTLI), College and Career Readiness, Peer Tutor Center, Mustang Central, Wellbeing and Accessibility, and the Library.</p> </li><li> <p>Assists in developing a well-rounded, usable library collection in his/her discipline; teaches the proper use of library and internet resources.</p> </li><li> <p>Contributes to Western's efforts for planning and improvement, including assessment of student learning, student engagement, strategic planning, and/or master planning.</p> </li><li> <p>Participates actively in the College's Assessment Program, including Program Review.</p> </li><li> <p>Works with the School Dean to develop an individual professional development plan that will be of mutual benefit to the individual and to Western. Completes all elements of Faculty Evaluation Plan.</p> </li><li> <p>Communicates clearly and effectively using the college network system, including college e-mail, word processing, and the advising modules; integrates learning with technology into the classroom as appropriate</p> </li><li> <p>Serves as an ambassador of Western by speaking to stakeholders, answering specific inquiries, assisting with research projects and workshops, locating information, and performing other related tasks.</p> </li><li> <p>Performs other related duties as assigned.</p> </li></ol> <p>Minimum Qualifications</p> <ol> <li> <p>Graduation from regionally accredited college or university with a Master's Degree in Biology or a related field.</p> </li><li> <p>Comprehensive knowledge of the concepts, technologies, principles and practices of biology.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, and administrators.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to exercise sound judgment in all facets of the student-teacher relationship and to teach a diverse group of community college students.</p> </li><li> <p>Demonstrated effective oral and written communication skills.</p> </li></ol> <p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <ol> <li> <p>PhD in Biology or a related field.</p> </li><li> <p>Experience in teaching in relevant content areas.</p> </li><li> <p>Interest and experience is undergraduate research.</p> </li><li> <p>Active participation in relevant professional organizations.</p> </li><li> <p>Teaching experience at the college level, substantiated by excellent student evaluations and/or letters of recommendation.</p> </li></ol> <p>Open Date Close Date Open Until Filled Yes Special Instructions to Applicants</p> <p>Unofficial transcripts are accepted for application purposes.
