<p>Position Description</p> <p>The primary role of adjunct faculty is to facilitate student learning by using effective methods of teaching. Faculty enhance the learning process through educational and discipline-specific professional development activities.</p> <p>Our Natural Resource Center provides numerous outdoor laboratory sites creating a 150-acre classroom for students with a passion for learning. The Wildlife Conservation program at Zane State College is your chance to make a difference in the world, one tree at a time.</p> <ul> <li>FALL 2025-2026 ADJUNCT OPPORTUNITY in FORESTRY and OUTDOOR AREA CONSTRUCTION COURSES </li></ul> <p>OUTDOOR AREA CONSTRUCTION Specific Qualifications (fall course)</p> <ul> <li>Chainsaw, Tractor, Power Tool advanced experience or training </li><li>Herbicide application experience and/or applicator license </li><li>General Construction principles and experience </li><li>Welding abilities </li><li>Able to use Word, Excel, and some CAD programs </li><li>Commitment to teaching, safety, and flexibility with hands on coursework </li></ul> <p>FORESTRY - Experience in Forestry may include but is not limited to:</p> <ul> <li>Dendrology </li><li>Forest Management </li><li>Silvicultural Techniques </li><li>Forest Mensuration & Log Scaling </li><li>Forest Ecology </li><li>Wildfire Fighter Training </li></ul> <p>Nurturing a love for nature and shaping the future of forestry, Instructors at ZSC inspire the next generation of environmental stewards.</p> <p>Essential Duties and Responsibilities</p> <p>FACILITATOR OF STUDENT LEARNING: The teacher and student act as partners promoting the exchange of knowledge and experience. This process provides meaningful learning experiences enabling learners to develop their ability to solve problems, think critically and creatively, and communicate effectively while developing marketable technical skills. Part-time faculty accomplish these tasks by:</p> <ul> <li>Providing effective classroom or/and lab instruction according to the established guidelines </li><li>Using appropriate learner -centered instructional methods for enhancement of teaching </li><li>Preparing, administering, and grading examinations/quizzes/projects for the purpose of student learning assessment and feedback. </li><li>Maintaining accurate records of student academic performance </li><li>Responding to the students' questions or concerns related to the course content by being available for individual meetings with students </li><li>Keeping current with the use of appropriate technology </li><li>Connecting classroom instruction with the work place values and competencies </li><li>Taking part in assessment of student learning process as needed </li><li>Reporting of any inoperable or malfunctioning equipment to the Evening Office </li><li>Maintaining a harmonious classroom environment in accordance with the College diversity and nondiscriminatory policies </li></ul> <p>Qualifications</p> <p>WILD PROGRAM:</p> <p>General Qualifications for all WILD Adjuncts:</p> <ul> <li>B.S. or M.S. in Wildlife, Forestry, Fisheries Management; Biology; or other Natural Resources Field from an accredited institution of higher education. </li><li>Field Experience with Government Agency or NGO in Natural Resources </li><li>Candidates with teaching experience will be giving highest consideration. </li><li>Willingness to work in all outdoor conditions </li><li>In addition, field experience is highly desirable. </li></ul> <p>General Education Faculty: A minimum of a master's degree in the discipline or a master's degree with a minimum of 18 semester/27 quarter graduate credit hours in the discipline is required. Evidence of professional development is desired.</p> <p>Technical Faculty: In general, a minimum of a bachelor's degree, full-time employment for approximately three years, and evidence of professional development in the discipline or related area will be required. In circumstances deemed appropriate by the supervising dean and vice president for academic and student services, an associates degree and/or specialized certification along with appropriate work experience may be considered as the minimum requirement. In instances where there are specific programmatic accreditation and/or state licensure or certification requirements for faculty credentials, those will be followed.</p>
