<p>Overview</p> <p>Are you interested in supporting the protection of Vermont's water quality? Do you have experience in customer service and administrative support? The Business and Operational Support Services (BOSS) Program is looking for an organized, detail-oriented individual to help with the Watershed Management Division's administrative permitting processes. The position reviews and processes environmental permit applications, tracks permit compliance, manages incoming fees, assists with technical solutions, and provides a high level of customer service to both the public and internal staff.</p> <p>BOSS processes a high volume of permit applications and compliance forms across several programs, including Rivers, Lakes, Wetlands, Stormwater, and Wastewater. We also help with the Division's operational and technology needs. Our team is dynamic, supportive, and always looking for ways to improve and streamline our work.</p> <p>This position requires switching between a variety of tasks including email and phone communication, database entry, electronic form submission management, and internal dashboards. Work from home options are available for this position. The program supports professional development, and staff will have opportunities/flexibility to grow professionally according to their strengths and interests.</p> <p>Responsibilities and Duties:</p> <ul> <li>Permit Application Review: Review applications, enter data into the database, and coordinate public notices and permit issuance. </li><li>Permit Compliance: Receive and review compliance forms, ensure completeness, and update records. </li><li>Customer Support: Assist applicants with the permit process over phone and email and request missing information when needed. </li><li>Data and File Management - Identify and correct data errors, maintain organized records. </li><li>Process Improvements - Follow and update standard operating procedures and help improve workflows. </li><li>Team support: Provide back-up assistance to other BOSS staff as needed. </li></ul> <p>Candidates should have customer service and administrative experience, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and strong computer/database management skills. Experience using the Microsoft Office 365 suite of tools (e.g., Outlook, Excel, Word, Teams, Sharepoint) and Adobe is strongly preferred. Candidates must have the ability to work both independently and as part of a team and handle shifting priorities and tasks. Knowledge or background in environmental permitting, experience with GIS, business process improvement, is a plus.</p> <p>Who May</p>
