<p>Job Description:</p> <p>The Executive Director Clinical Nursing Excellence directs the vision and strategy for nursing to achieve nursing quality, safety, and experience goals to outperform national benchmarks. In partnership with the VP of Nursing Professional Development & Practice Excellence, enterprise and regional leadership teams, and Clinical Excellence, this person is responsible for facilitating the development, management, and implementation of Intermountain Health's nursing clinical excellence journey, inclusive of professional nursing practice, professional development, and nursing research. Responsible for evaluating existing professional governance structures to elevate nursing evidence-based practice through shared decision making across nursing at all levels locally and across the enterprise. This position ensures that the organization culture reflects the internalization of the five Magnet components of Transformational Leadership, Structural Empowerment, Exemplary Professional Practice, Knew Knowledge Innovations, and Improvements and promotes excellence in patient care as evidenced by Empirical Outcomes.</p> <p>Essential Functions</p> <ul> <li>Drives forward the elements of the Nursing Professional Practice Model and influences nursing research, evidence-based practice, and education programs, both to enhance patient care and to elevate Intermountain Health's national leadership position. </li><li>Provides strategic direction for professional governance council structures and efficacy, Magnet, Pathway to Excellence and Transition to Practice designation. </li><li>Leads, mentors, and coaches nurses at all levels in their understanding and practical application of standards for nursing excellence. </li><li>Acts as a knowledge expert and resource that interprets and integrates the Magnet, Pathway to Excellence and PTAP standards into nursing practice. </li><li>Promote evidence-based practice and research in nursing practice and educational processes. </li><li>Collaborates and supports nursing professional development activities, including certification initiatives and related activities; innovation and EBP initiatives. </li><li>Participates in initiatives that support the nursing care delivery model and clinical practice activities, advancing nursing services toward national recognition for quality outcomes, RN, and patient satisfaction. </li><li>Leads and oversees professional governance councils, including the professional development of council chairs, strategic planning of councils, and coordination activities locally, regionally, and across the enterprise. </li><li>Functions as a liaison to all hospital departments and serve as a consultative resource for administration, nursing, non-nursing caregivers, physicians, and the community regarding shared leadership activities. </li><li>Supports the hospital-based Magnet Steering Committee and leads the Enterprise Nursing Clinical Excellence Council, promoting nursing excellence, recognition, and empowerment through shared decision-making and professional development of nurses. </li></ul> <p>Skills</p> <ul> <li>Nursing </li><li>Leadership </li><li>Communication </li><li>Clinical Programs </li><li>Evidence-Based Practices (EBP) </li><li>Nursing Practice </li><li>People Management </li><li>Patient Satisfaction </li><li>Patient Care </li><li>Patient Safety </li></ul> <p>Physical Requirements:</p> <p>Minimum Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Master's degree from an accredited university required. Either the bachelor's or master's degree must be in Nursing. Degree will be verified. </li><li>Current RN license in the state of practice. </li><li>Extensive clinical nursing excellence experience leading the Magnet and/or Pathway to Excellence Designation journey. </li><li>Progressive leadership experience with the ability to lead in the adaptation and implementation of new processes and/or technology. </li><li>Experience in overseeing multiple designation journeys across multiple facilities or within a healthcare system. </li><li>Strong verbal and written communication skills. </li><li>Experience using word processing, spreadsheet, database, internet, e-mail, and scheduling applications. </li><li>Experience interacting in a professional manner with administration, medical staff, and hospital personnel. </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Three (3) years of leadership experience. </li><li>Five (5) years of clinical nursing excellence experience leading the Magnet and/or Pathway to Excellence Designation journey. </li><li>Experience facilitating organizational Magnet initiatives. </li><li>Statistical and data management skills. </li><li>Board certification in a nursing specialty. </li></ul> <p>Physical Requirements</p> <ul> <li>Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, documents, monitors, identify equipment and supplies, and be able to assess customer needs. </li><li>Frequent interactions with providers, colleagues, customers, patients/clients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, needs, and issues quickly and accurately. </li><li>Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use for typing, accessing needed information, etc. </li><li>May have the same physical requirements as those of clinical or patient care jobs, when the leader takes clinical shifts. </li><li>For roles requiring driving: Expected to drive a vehicle which requires sitting, seeing and reading signs, traffic signals, and other vehicles. </li></ul> <p>This is an exempt, full-time position with a compensation range of $191,000 - $217,000, annually, and as determined by prior years of relevant experience. With this position, you are eligible to participate in the Annual Pay for Performance (AP4P) Plan. This plan enables Intermountain Health to provide leaders with an additional performance compensation opportunity. The AP4P award opportunities are calculated as a percentage of your base salary.
