Learn more about us at worcester.edu/about .</p> <p>Job Description: OFFICIAL TITLE: Staff Associate, Human Resources Generalist SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Director of Employee Services Operations SUPERVISION EXERCISED: May supervise work study and/or student employees as assigned.</p> <p>General Statement of Duties: The Staff Associate, HR Generalist is responsible for performing high-level HR functions within the confines of applicable collective bargaining agreements, as well as state and federal law. The Human Resources Generalist will provide a broad range of human resources services and consulting, which may include recruitment, onboarding, benefits, labor relations, HRIS and payroll. This individual will also act as the hiring coordinator for non-benefited employees and is responsible for the non-benefited employee hiring process, excluding student employees.</p> <p>Responsibilities:</p> <p>(E) = Essential</p> <p>(E) Hires, re-hires, and performs all personnel actions for all adjunct and 03 contract, non-benefited employees in HRCMS and internal files; reviews procedures to consistently improve processes. (E) Responsible for the timely generation of adjunct contracts. (E) Maintains data integrity in HRCMS and respective internal files; tracks contract end dates and follows up with hiring mangers on status to ensure accurate records. (E) Responsible for the timely generation and distribution of official correspondence relating to personnel actions, including but not limited to: reclassification/promotion, interim appointments, leaves of absence, sabbaticals, separations, etc. Enters, tracks, and communicates personnel actions via Interview Exchange and internal personnel action sharing system. Maintains record of temporarily appointed employees, including full-time visiting faculty. (E) Responsible for entering personnel actions into HRCMS, including sabbaticals, and ensures data integrity in the system. (E) Assists Director with reclassification desk audits and makes objective recommendations. (E) Assists Director in maintaining the official position roster and its integrity. (E) Responsible for hiring benefited employees into HRCMS. (E) Runs pre-employment CORI and national background checks; schedules pre-employment physicals. (E) Assists with the annual update of the academic catalog. (E) Supervises student and work study employees, including processing their hiring paperwork and serving as the SSTA approver. (E) Assists supervisors with the interpretation and application of collective bargaining agreements as it relates to employee matters. (E) Assists with the implementation of collective bargaining agreements, as they relate to each employee population. (E) Assists the director with employee relations and grievance research, as requested. (E) Assists with the generation and update of departmental policies and handbooks. (E) Serves as a member of the Recognition and Retirement event committee. (E) Utilizes HRCMS, the state warehouse, and internal Colleague system to generate accurate and timely reports. (E) Responds to inquiries regarding contract status and general contract processes. (E) Serves as a back-up to others in the Human Resources Office for hiring student employees in HRCMS during peak periods. (E) Strives to continually improve upon departmental procedures to include, accelerating processes, improving maintenance and organization of records, and improving the general appearance of the department. (E) Demonstrates civility and professional, customer-service oriented behavior, worthy of emulation by other staff and students. (E) Responsible for contributing to the WSU Strategic Plan. (E) Responsible for contributing to Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action objectives. Performs other duties as assigned.</p> <p>Requirements: Required Qualifications:</p> <p>At least 2 - 3 years of progressively responsible experience in human resources; preferably within higher education. Exceptional customer service skills and ability to maintain confidentiality. Ability to communicate effectively and professional in both, a written, and oral manner. Strong organizational skills; required to manage multiple tasks, deadlines, and systems. Computer literacy with a focus on Microsoft Office; HRCMS, MAGIC, Warehouse experience preferred. Must be able to collaborate in team environment, convey positive work ethic, maintain diplomatic and respectful interactions with individuals at all levels and from all backgrounds. Must be able to utilize excellent judgment and demonstrate good decision-making ability.</p> <p>Preferred Qualifications:</p> <p>Bachelor's degree in human resource management or another related field. Experience working in higher education.</p> <p>Additional Information: This is a full-time, benefited, exempt, professional Non-Unit position.
