<p>Position Summary</p> <p>This position is responsible for year-round planning, recruiting, and managing files for an approximate three thousand (3,000) Election Day poll workers. Responsible for coordinating voter outreach activities; presents information to community groups and individuals on behalf of the Marion County Clerk. Coordinate with political parties to ensure that the nearly 200 vote centers are fully staffed for each Election Day. Assists with candidate and campaign-finance filings throughout the year. Position requires the knowledge of established policies and procedures. Independent judgment and ability to work without full-time supervision required. We value diversity in perspectives and experiences among colleagues and the residents of this city of whom we serve.</p> <p>Position Responsibilities</p> <p>Manages, updates, and maintains a poll-worker database to ensure all data is current and the major political parties have access to the necessary information to make vote center appointments for each Election Day. Monitors the effectiveness of the poll-worker database and reports issues to the Deputy Director and the database vendor.Reviews and approves poll-worker and election-worker applications to ensure all interested workers meet the Election Day work standards as set by agency policy and state law. Assists in maintaining a list of up to 200 Election Day workers interested in ballot counting for the political parties.Collaborates with the Marion County Auditor's Office to ensure all polling locations and poll workers are paid in a timely manner and resolve poll worker payment issues.Facilitates the hiring process of poll workers and seasonal staff.</p> <p>Supervises and makes routine performance updates to leadership for up to eight (8) seasonal staff.Coordinates all voter education and outreach activities for the Election Board. This includes working closely with local secondary educational institutions to schedule, plan, and direct all yVote! program demonstrations.Assists staff with candidate filings and campaign finance reports, including, but not limited to data entry, paperwork filing, and scanning of reports to be uploaded to the Election Board website, when needed. Responsible for monitoring and educating the community and political parties on statute modifications and other changes, as it pertains to poll worker and Election Day work experience.Address poll worker grievances related to vote center conditions, staffing, and payroll to enhance the Election Day work experience of poll workers.Responsible for agency constituent services, which includes, but is not limited to, responding via telephone and postal or email to general public information requests, general public inquiries, comments, and complaints related to personnel matters for poll workers and election day employees.Oversee and schedule poll-worker training, organize training-day setup, which includes internal and external traffic-flow operation, maintains attendance record of trainees to ensure proper payment. Provides individual guidance and instruction to poll workers who need additional hands-on training.</p> <p>Assists the warehouse supervisor and Deputy Director to monitor and track the collection and return of Election Day voting equipment by inspectors and other poll workers.Monitor, in real time, the staffing needs of each polling location on Election Day morning and dispatch trained poll workers to understaffed vote centers throughout Marion County.Assist Election Board staff in the central count of absentee ballots on Election Day by recruiting staff, as well as training and supervising bipartisan team members for the duration of tabulating the ballots.</p> <p>This list of duties and responsibilities is not intended to be all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties or responsibilities that management may deem necessary from time to time.</p> <p>Qualifications</p> <p>Bachelor's degree required. Relevant work experience can be substituted for the education requirement on a year-for-year basis.</p> <p>Must be customer-service and detail oriented.</p> <p>Strong oral and written communication skills.</p> <p>Must have excellent attention to detail.</p> <p>Proficiency in Microsoft Office Products required. Database- management skills preferred.</p> <p>Should demonstrate an interest in Marion County politics and campaigns.</p> <p>Ability to handle multiple projects and work under stress.</p> <p>Ability to exercise professional judgment in decision making</p> <p>Experience in dealing effectively with a broad range of people in a business environment and with members of the community and public</p> <p>Must maintain confidentiality at all times.</p> <p>Must be a resident and registered voter of Marion County, or demonstrate a willingness to relocate and register upon acceptance of the position</p> <p>Possess a valid Indiana Driver's License.</p> <p>Must have reliable transportation and be able to drive between polling sites, City-County Building office, and Election Service Center</p> <p>Independent Judgment</p> <p>Position requires the knowledge of established policies and procedures.
