<p>Lincoln University</p> <p>Job Title: Adjunct Professor - Communication</p> <p>Classification: Faculty</p> <p>Division: Academic Affairs</p> <p>Department: Communication</p> <p>Reports: William Donohue, Interim Chair</p> <p>FLSA Status: Salaried, Exempt</p> <p>Location: Lincoln University Main Campus</p> <p>OVERVIEW:</p> <p>Lincoln University (LU), a historically black, regional, comprehensive, liberal arts college and university is a state-related institution within the Pennsylvania Higher Education System. The university enrolls over 2,000 students, employs more than 100 full-time faculty members, and offers more than 30 undergraduate programs, and selected graduate programs.</p> <p>SUMMARY:</p> <p>This is a part-time, in-person opportunity, for an Adjunct Professor to facilitate undergraduate courses in the field of Communication. A successful candidate should possess the ability to engage thought, encourage questions, and guide meaningful application of content presented within the classroom both to individual students and the collective group of learners. This position would include a range of subject matters in the discipline of Communication such as, digital media production and design, writing for communication professionals, social and emerging media strategy, data-driven and interactive media.</p> <p>ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <ul> <li>Teach in-person undergraduate courses in specific content areas as assigned by the Department Chairperson. </li><li>Prepare syllabi according to the University/Department guidelines provided. </li><li>Compile, administer, and grade all homework assignments, projects, papers, and exams needed to promote comprehensive learning of the subject matter(s) presented. </li><li>Present course content, assignments, and other supporting materials relevant to the course on the Learning Management System (LMS) to allow for easy student access. </li><li>Provide multiple graded artifacts (assignments, projects, exams) for the assessment of the course as needed. </li><li>Participates in Assessment activities by submitting data of student learning outcomes in a timely fashion. </li><li>And all other relevant duties as assigned by the Chair. </li></ul> <p>EDUCATION:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's required. Master's/Ph.D./MFA in Communication or related field. </li></ul> <p>EXPERIENCE:</p> <ul> <li>Teaching experience in an undergraduate/graduate institution. </li></ul> <p>QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Master's degree (or higher) in the Communication discipline required. </li><li>Prior teaching experience in a University/College setting preferred. </li><li>Excellent communication skills (verbal and written). </li></ul> <p>WORK ENVIRONMENT:</p> <p>Work is primarily performed in a university campus environment and requires a flexible schedule including possible evening and weekend work. The employee is subject to inside environmental conditions, protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes.</p> <p>PHYSICAL DEMANDS:</p> <p>Moderate lifting up to 20 pounds as frequently as needed to move objects; dexterity to write and manipulate computer keyboard and mouse; ability to hear and speak clearly; and body mobility to stoop, kneel, and bend and reach.</p> <p>APPLICATION PROCEDURES:</p> <p>All applications should be submitted through the online portal.
