<p>Job Description</p> <p>Lab Technician - Cedar Rapids, IA</p> <p>$1500 Sign-On Bonus!</p> <p>Starting pay: $28.81 + $2.20 shift differential</p> <p>Shift(s) Requirements: The shift schedules includes an 8 hour shift on a rotational schedule (i.e. seven day swing). Learn more about ADM here: https://www.adm.com/</p> <p>Why Join?</p> <ul> <li> <p>Health Benefits (active at 90 days of employment)</p> </li><li> <p>One deduction for health, dental, eye from paycheck weekly</p> </li><li> <p>Employee Only insurance is a requirement of the CBA Contract</p> </li><li> <p>401k and Employee Stock Options</p> </li><li> <p>Short-term Disability TeamCare</p> </li><li> <p>Life Insurance</p> </li><li> <p>Vacation (SEE PHOTO)</p> </li><li> <p>Sick Time</p> </li><li> <p>Personal Days (24 Hours)</p> </li><li> <p>Pay day is every Friday</p> </li></ul> <p>Job Summary:</p> <p>Under limited supervision, conducts in-process and finished product testing to determine adherence to established specifications of quality and purity.</p> <p>Job Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>Performs daily process monitoring tests throughout the plant as assigned, including microbiological analysis. </li><li>Prepare process and finished product samples, perform analytical testing using instrumental and record results using computerized data systems. </li><li>Maintains samples of tested product in order to confirm test results, if necessary. </li><li>Documents results of all testing procedures and promptly notifies processing departments of required adjustments to operating procedures. </li><li>Understands most production processes required in the production of product and may make recommendations to operators in order to achieve product quality. </li><li>Performs light maintenance and calibration on all ADM laboratory equipment. </li><li>Maintains on-going records of the results of all testing procedures and inputs such data into computer on a daily basis. </li><li>Maintains adequate supplies used for testing procedures and notifies the supervisor of the need to re-order such supplies. </li><li>Continually compares equipment readouts with samples of standards as required to insure that all systems are operating accurately. </li><li>Maintains a neat and clean working area at all times, washing equipment as required and placing equipment in the proper storage areas. </li><li>Maintains an effective working relationship with fellow employees. </li><li>Performs duties in a safe manner, utilizing all approved safety equipment and successfully completes all safety certification requirements. </li><li>Maintains awareness and adheres to all FDA, GMP, BATF, EPA, OSHA and employer standards and guidelines. </li><li>Handles various chemicals in assorted containers in the manner outlined in the manufacturer's chemical Material Safety Data Sheet. </li><li>Informs supervisor immediately of any hazards, unsafe equipment and/or acts. Additionally reports immediately any accidents, injuries and near misses to supervisor. </li><li>Participates actively in training. </li><li>Familiarizes themselves with the hazards in their work area and how to protect themselves. </li><li>Understands that accidents are preventable and that safety is everyone's responsibility. </li><li>Always focuses on safety, quality, and integrity </li></ul> <p>Education & Experience Preferred:</p> <ul> <li>2 or 4 year science degree </li><li>Excellent safety record and awareness </li><li>Demonstrates sufficient computer skills to utilize lab instrument operation programs </li><li>Experience with lab documentation </li><li>Experience with lab procedures and equipment </li><li>Demonstrates sufficient math skills to perform calculations associated with lab testing </li><li>Previous plant experience </li><li>Motivated with a passion to learn </li></ul> <p>Preferred Skills:</p> <ul> <li>Good attendance history </li><li>Ability to work on multiple tasks </li><li>Ability to team build </li><li>Good organizational skills </li><li>Willingness to assume and learn new responsibilities </li><li>Excellent communication skills </li><li>Proven housekeeping and sanitation skills (MSS) </li><li>Demonstrated troubleshooting skills </li><li>Accurate record keeping skills </li></ul> <p>Minimum Requirements</p> <ul> <li>Must be 18 years or older </li><li>Must be eligible to work in the United States without visa sponsorship </li><li>Ability to understand and effectively communicate in English (verbal/written) </li><li>High School diploma or equivalent </li><li>Experience in Lab Equipment, manufacturing and/or similar military environment (preferred) </li><li>Detailed oriented and self-motivated </li><li>Strong safety aptitude </li><li>Strong fundamental skills (math, reading, writing and verbal communication) </li></ul> <p>Physical Requirements and Working Conditions</p> <ul> <li>Ability to move about on a work site by ascending/descending stairs, extensive walking, climbing steps or ladders, prolonged periods of standing and sitting, stooping, bending, kneeling, or squatting frequently </li><li>Ability to operate equipment or machinery that may be located at different heights with open view grating from multiple elevations or in confined spaces </li><li>Ability to lift up to 50 pounds overhead </li><li>Ability to traverse two (2) miles or more during the course of a workday </li><li>Ambient conditions - Work area is, typically, a non-air-conditioned production environment. Working in in extreme heat and cold in all seasonal elements, both indoors and outside on a regular basis. </li><li>Atmosphere: May come in contact with Dust (Peanut - known allergen), corn, cotton, canola seed, chemicals, caustics and odor </li><li>Must be able to work around vibrating equipment and noise levels that may reach or exceed 85 decibels and will require use of hearing protection for most of the work shift </li><li>Employees are required to wear all company provided Personal Protective Equipment (i.e., hard-hats, safety glasses, earplugs, uniforms, and steel-toed boots) in addition to job specific PPE requirements (i.e., fall protection equipment and respirators) </li></ul> <p>ADM requires the successful completion of a background check</p>
