<p>SUMMARY:</p> <p>We are currently seeking a Staff Nurse to join our Jail Health Services team.</p> <p>This position is Casual.</p> <p>Note: If you are currently in a benefit earning position and apply for this casual position you will be decreasing your current hours to casual with no benefits. </p> <p>Casual nurses are nurses who have no regular appointed scheduled hours (no assigned FTE). Nurses may not have a casual position and a regularly scheduled position within the same facility. Casual nurses must make themselves available to work a minimum of two (2) open 8-hour minimum length or the equivalent number of hours per four (4)-week scheduling period at straight time, a minimum of one shift must be a weekend shift. Casual nurses must also make themselves available to work two (2) of the following holiday shifts per calendar year: New Year's Day, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day. Holiday shifts must be full eight or twelve hour shifts. A minimum of one of the holidays must be a winter holiday (Thanksgiving, Christmas or New Year's).</p> <p>RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <p>Within the context of the Hennepin Healthcare System Patient and Family Centered Care model, and under general supervision, the registered nurse provides and coordinates nursing care by:</p> <ul> <li>Protecting, promoting, and optimizing health </li><li>Preventing illness and injury </li><li>Alleviating suffering through the treatment of the human response </li><li>Partnering with the patient, their family and significant others </li><li>Documenting interventions and an individualized plan of care </li></ul> <p>Minimum Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>1 year of current HHS Jail Health Services experience </li><li>Graduation from an accredited school of nursing </li><li>Possession of a valid license as a Registered Nurse issued by the State of Minnesota </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Certification in area of clinical specialty </li><li>BSN Preferred. Bachelor of Nursing degree is strongly encouraged. Advancement in academic education will be discussed as part of individual professional development during the annual performance review. </li></ul>
