<p>About Northwest Health Services Northwest Health Services (NHS) is a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) serving the St. Joseph, Missouri community with comprehensive, patient-centered primary care. Our pharmacy team plays a vital role in delivering safe, high-quality medication management to underserved populations across northwest Missouri.</p> <p>Position Summary</p> <p>We are seeking a licensed PRN (per diem) Staff Pharmacist to support our pharmacy operations in St. Joseph, MO. The ideal candidate will provide clinical pharmacy services, Medication Therapy Management (MTM), drug utilization review, and patient counseling in a collaborative, mission-driven health center environment. This role offers flexible scheduling and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact in community health.</p> <p>Key Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Verify and dispense prescription medications in compliance with Missouri State Board of Pharmacy regulations and applicable federal law </li><li>Perform Medication Therapy Management (MTM) services to improve patient adherence, quality of care, and medication compliance; assign appropriate MTM tasks to Pharmacy Technicians as needed </li><li>Conduct drug interaction verification and drug utilization review (DUR); physically review, check, and approve all prescription orders, fills, and dispensing </li><li>Provide patient counseling and drug education to patients and customers as appropriate </li><li>Supervise pharmacy technicians as directed by the Missouri State Board of Pharmacy </li><li>Process prior authorizations; coordinate with insurance companies, providers, and other healthcare facilities via phone, fax, and electronic communication </li><li>Manage CSOS ordering, receiving, logging, and inventory of Schedule II controlled substances; verify CIII-CV controlled substance orders and conduct required inventories </li><li>Perform incoming and outgoing prescription transfers </li><li>Navigate NRx pharmacy dispensing software and POS (Point of Sale) systems; perform prescription filling, electronic claims processing, and patient demographic entry </li><li>Monitor Missouri State Board of Pharmacy, DEA, and BNDD for regulatory updates and changes in pharmacy law </li><li>Assist Pharmacy Manager with creating and reviewing policies and procedures as needed </li><li>Participate in NHS quality improvement activities, peer review, and community health improvement initiatives </li><li>Attend required meetings and provider staff meetings as requested </li><li>Comply with HIPAA regulations at all times </li><li>Perform emergency after-hours prescription filling as needed </li><li>Serve as second on-call contact with alarm company and law enforcement as needed </li></ul> <p>Essential Job Functions</p> <ul> <li>Provide healthcare services efficiently in a healthcare environment; physically assist patients as needed, exhibiting fine motor skills and precise eye/hand coordination; ability to walk, talk, hear, see, kneel, lift, pull, and push up to 50 pounds </li><li>Assess and counsel a wide variety of patients with accuracy, proficiency, and efficiency at an advanced professional level </li><li>Read and interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written or oral form; understand medical terminology, records, and instructions; demonstrate problem-solving ability </li><li>Communicate with patients, families, and NHS staff utilizing tact, patience, and strong communication skills </li><li>Handle stressful situations with composure and professionalism </li><li>Maintain professional appearance and demeanor at all times </li></ul> <p>Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy (RPh) required </li><li>Active, unrestricted Missouri pharmacist license in good standing; multi-state licensure a plus </li><li>BLS/CPR certification required </li><li>Experience with NRx, QS/1, or similar pharmacy dispensing software preferred </li><li>Strong knowledge of controlled substance regulations (DEA, BNDD, CSOS) </li><li>Experience in community pharmacy, retail pharmacy, or FQHC/health center setting preferred </li><li>Medication Therapy Management (MTM) experience a plus </li><li>Demonstrated accuracy, proficiency, and efficiency in a high-volume pharmacy environment </li><li>Basic computer skills required; light typing skills and pharmacy software knowledge preferred </li><li>Valid driver's license and proof of auto insurance required for business use of personal vehicle </li></ul> <p>Why Northwest Health Services?</p> <ul> <li>Mission-driven community health environment serving underserved populations </li><li>Flexible PRN / per diem scheduling </li><li>Collaborative, multi-disciplinary care team </li><li>Participation in quality improvement and community health initiatives </li></ul> <p>Equal Opportunity Employer.</p> <p>Northwest Health Services is an equal opportunity employer.
