Acts in the capacity of Clerk in his/her absence; acts on a daily basis with Attorneys and the general public requiring excellent communications skills.</p> <p>Duties & Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Supervises and assists work to departmental personnel. </li><li>Performs technical clerical work concerning the preparation of required legal advertising and verifying their publications. </li><li>Prepares various important legal documents and reports relative to the business of the Court. </li><li>Prepares Court docket and interprets and carries out administrative decisions and policies as directed by Judge/Clerk of Court. </li><li>Prepares written and oral communications to lawyers and litigants before the Court ensuring compliance with the Court's procedures. </li><li>Publishes important legal documents relative to the business of the Court. </li><li>Acts as Clerk of the Court in his/her absence, performing duties assigned that position. </li><li>Accepts cash and checks for filings; accurately records deposits and reconciles daily totals; reconciles (monthly) bank accounts. </li><li>Dockets and prepares decrees on all Court matters for signatures; attends and clerks Court proceedings as required. </li><li>Prepares and follows up on all purchase orders and requisitions of the department. </li><li>The Deputy Clerk Probate assists the Chief Judge and Court Clerk in preparation of annual department budget, reports to the City Council, Mayor, and State Treasurer and oversees the financial operation and reporting of the Court. </li><li>Instructs and supervises the staff in the preparation and maintenance of Court records; assists in the preparation of Court calendars; assists interested persons in obtaining data on file with the Court. </li><li>Requisitions office supplies </li><li>Performs other related duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>Minimum Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>High school graduate or equivalent. </li><li>Thorough knowledge of the policies and operation of the Court. </li><li>Thorough knowledge of department programs, policies, and operations with respect to the functions performed. </li><li>Must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications. </li><li>Must possess excellent oral communication and writing skills. </li><li>Knowledge of financial record keeping and bookkeeping principles, office procedures, practices, and equipment. </li><li>Must be able to perform all essential functions of the job. </li></ul> <p>The term "limited" means that the successful candidate will perform the job for an undetermined length of time.
