These efforts are monitored and assessed regularly to ensure accountability to all stakeholders.</p> <p>Position Summary:</p> <p>Oliver Middle School is seeking exceptional teachers to join our team who possess a growth mindset, value collaboration and continuous feedback, are passionate about their content, and have an unwavering belief that all students are capable of meeting rigorous academic expectations.</p> <p>Essential Duties & Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Teach, reinforce, and ensure mastery of academic content with ELL students through direct instruction in whole-group, small-group, and individualized settings </li><li>Design and implement standards-aligned lessons using the Massachusetts Frameworks and WIDA standards </li><li>Use formative and summative assessments to measure student progress and adjust instruction accordingly </li><li>Create measurable goals and objectives based on English proficiency evaluations and monitor progress regularly </li><li>Collaborate with general education teachers to modify instruction and classroom environments to support ELLs </li><li>Provide language-based accommodations and modifications to ensure access to content </li><li>Manage student behavior in alignment with school expectations and create an inclusive, engaging learning environment </li><li>Communicate regularly with students' families to promote academic success and language development </li><li>Participate in school-wide functions, professional development, and curriculum planning </li><li>Administer required assessments such as ACCESS for ELLs </li><li>Maintain accurate documentation and compliance with ILPs and state mandates </li><li>Support students with diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds, including newcomers and SLIFE populations </li><li>Complete other duties as assigned </li></ul> <p>Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:</p> <ul> <li>Strong foundation in second language acquisition theory, linguistics, and ESL instructional strategies </li><li>Familiarity with WIDA standards and Massachusetts ELD benchmarks </li><li>Knowledge of RETELL/SEI frameworks and MA obligations </li><li>Excellent collaboration and communication skills with students, families, and colleagues </li><li>Strong data literacy and ability to use data to inform instruction </li><li>Proven capacity to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic school environment </li><li>Demonstrated cultural competence and ability to create inclusive, respectful classroom environments </li><li>Proficiency in educational technologies and digital tools </li><li>Commitment to the mission and values of Lawrence Public Schools </li></ul> <p>Qualifications & Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred </li><li>Valid Massachusetts ESL teaching license (PreK-12) preferred </li><li>SEI Endorsement required </li><li>Experience teaching English Language Learners in urban public school settings strongly preferred </li><li>Current authorization to work in the United States </li></ul> <p>Equal Opportunity Employer</p> <p>Lawrence Public Schools is an equal opportunity employer committed to fostering an inclusive environment for employees and applicants.
