<p>The IT Research Computing Analyst is a role based at the Mountain Horticultural Crops Research and Extension Center (MHCREC) in Mills River, NC. This role is part of the IT Research Computing Support unit within NC State University's College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS) Information Technology division.</p> <p>The Analyst provides on-site IT support to research, extension, and operational teams at MHCREC, with responsibilities focused on infrastructure reliability, scientific computing, network and telecommunications support, structured cabling, and end-user service delivery.</p> <p>This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on IT professional who thrives in a research-focused, field-based environment and is passionate about supporting agricultural and scientific innovation through technical expertise.</p> <p>Key Responsibilities:</p> <p>Solutions Development</p> <ul> <li>Identify local technical requirements and contribute to solution development. </li><li>Document systems and procedures, including diagrams, workflows, and test plans. </li><li>Support the deployment and integration of agricultural and research computing technologies. </li><li>Collaborate with CALS IT teams to ensure reliable and scalable systems across MHCREC. </li></ul> <p>Project Support and Technical Consultation</p> <ul> <li>Assist with local infrastructure and technology projects. </li><li>Serve as an on-site technical resource for researchers, faculty, and staff. </li><li>Coordinate vendor installations and on-site technical support. </li></ul> <p>Technical Operations and Infrastructure</p> <ul> <li>Install and maintain local network systems, lab instrumentation, and supporting infrastructure. </li><li>Perform structured cabling (low voltage and fiber optic) installation and maintenance. </li><li>Support wired/wireless networks, video/security systems, and telecommunications hardware. </li><li>Conduct preventive maintenance and resolve service issues, independently or with remote support. </li></ul> <p>Local IT Support and Troubleshooting</p> <ul> <li>Assist end users with setup, configuration, and troubleshooting of devices and software. </li><li>Manage inventory and return materials authorizations (RMAs) for hardware. </li><li>Maintain internal documentation and troubleshoot common issues. </li><li>Support business continuity and data recovery for research computing systems. </li></ul> <p>Is Time Limited Yes If Yes, Appointment Length TBD Wolfpack Perks and Benefits</p> <p>As a Pack member, you belong here, and can enjoy exclusive perks designed to enhance your personal and professional well-being.</p> <p>What we offer:</p> <ul> <li>Health Insurance for Temporary Employees </li><li>Enhance your career with LEAD courses </li><li>Attend non-revenue generating sporting events for free. </li></ul> <p>Attain Work-life balance with our Childcare discounts, Wellness & Recreation Membership, and Wellness Programs that aim to build a thriving wolfpack community.</p> <p>Disclaimer: Perks and Benefit eligibility is based on Part-Time or Full-Time Employment status.
