<p>Job Responsibilities</p> <p>Come join our team at the Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation (LLR) where you will experience work-life balance, great benefits, and an exciting career that supports the Agency's mission to make South Carolina a safe place to work and live.</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>You will serve as the Board Executive to direct, plan and manage program activities of the Counselors, Genetic Counselors, Psychology, and Social Work Boards in all aspects of their statutory and regulatory responsibilities. </li><li>You will oversee the administration and operation of the program area, including the initial and renewal application and licensure process. </li><li>You will oversee the program's financial management practices and monitor revenues and expenses. </li><li>You will organize and attend Board and other meetings and take appropriate follow-up actions on directives and recommendations, including with the issuance of cease-and-desist orders. </li><li>You will oversee and supervise staff that perform the program's daily operations, including assessing staff needs and training. </li><li>You will conduct research and provide information regarding statutes and regulations, including representing the program area in legislative matters before the General Assembly. </li><li>You will review and monitor websites to maintain accurate and up-to-date program information. </li><li>You will respond to questions and concerns from licensees, members of the legislature, and the public. </li><li>You will perform other duties such as serving as a liaison with professional organizations, monitoring legislation affecting the program, and assisting in the development of strategic plans. </li></ul> <p>Minimum and Additional Requirements</p> <p>Minimum Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>A bachelor's degree and relevant program experience. (A combination of education, relevant and experience may be considered in substitution for the bachelor's degree upon approval by Human Resources.) </li><li>MANDATORY: Must be able to successfully complete a fingerprint-based background check and be vetted by SLED Criminal Justice Information Services. </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Extensive knowledge of the practices, principles and theories of management. </li><li>Ability to supervise professional, technical and clerical employees. </li><li>Knowledge and understanding of regulatory law, the health profession and/or the Counselors, Psychology, and Social Work Practice Acts. </li></ul> <p>Other Requirements</p> <ul> <li>Occasional overnight travel to state and national meetings. </li><li>Daily filing, data entry, telephone and computer use. </li><li>Occasional overnight travel to state and national meetings. </li><li>Occasional lifting up to a maximum weight of 40 pounds and kneeling. </li><li>Position works in an office environment with extended periods of sitting. </li><li>May be required to work outside of normal business hours as needed. </li><li>Daily filing, data entry, telephone and computer use. </li></ul> <p>Additional Comments</p> <p>Benefits Offered</p> <p>The South Carolina Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation offers an exceptional benefits package for FTE positions that includes:</p> <ul> <li>Health, dental, vision, long term disability, and life insurance for employee, spouse, and children </li><li>15 days annual (vacation) leave per year </li><li>15 days sick leave per year </li><li>13 paid holidays </li><li>Paid Parental Leave </li><li>State Retirement Plan and Deferred Compensation Programs </li></ul>
