Interested applicants must apply online by visiting the Denver Public Schools job board at careers.dpsk12.org.</p> <p>About this job:</p> <ul> <li>The On-Call Athletic Trainer Provides athletic training services to student athletes under the direction of sports medicine medical director and school principal on an as needed basis. </li><li>Location varies; will be traveling from school to school as needed. </li><li>Hourly, not benefits eligible. </li></ul> <p>What DPS Offers You:</p> <ul> <li>A Culture that values Equity, Accountability, Integrity, Collaboration and Fun with a shared vision that Every Student Will Succeed. </li><li>Salary Range: $35.00 per hour. </li></ul> <p>What You'll Do:</p> <ul> <li>Manages and provides of care of injuries to a physically active person under the direction of a licensed physician, including emergency care; development of injury prevention programs; appropriate preventative care; and the assessment, management, treatment, rehabilitation, and recondition of the physically active person whose conditions are within the professional preparation and education of a certified athletic trainer. </li><li>Maintains appropriate general treatment orders, emergency protocols, and emergency action plans to be reviewed annually and approved by medical direction. </li><li>Provides athletic training services for games. </li><li>Acts as liaison between family physicians and specialists, the District, faculty and staff, athletes, and their parents. </li><li>Maintains accurate records of injuries and treatments and facilitates referrals as appropriate per athletes' condition and insurance within the confines of HIPPA and FERPA. </li><li>Schedules and assists in the facilitation of pre-participation sports physicals, maintains a list of athletes medically eligible to compete under District and state rules and regulations, and regularly communicates with coaches and athletic director regarding status of injured athletes and recommendations for return to play. </li><li>Orders supplies for sports medicine clinic within guidelines of athletic director and budget. </li><li>Assists in weight room maintenance and coordinates weight room staffing to ensure that athletes have ample access to a well-functioning clean space for routine workouts, specific goals, and makeup-workouts; provides instruction in the use of weight machines and conditioning equipment and tailors programs based on the specific needs of the teams or individual athletes. </li><li>Provides educational resources on nutrition and offers nutritional advice or referrals; has working knowledge and understanding of supplements and what substances are allowable in secondary school sports. </li><li>Coordinates extra-curricular strength and conditioning for teams and individuals and continues efforts to grow the strength and conditioning program. </li><li>Works to reduce athletic injuries through sports specific conditioning programs and develops and implements rehabilitation programs for athletes who have been injured. </li></ul> <p>What You'll Need:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in Athletic Training or related field. </li><li>Lead for racial and educational excellence and work to dismantle systems of oppression and inequity in our community, along with believing in and supporting all students so they feel seen and heard with access to high quality education. </li><li>Live and work with a permanent home address in Colorado while working with us. </li><li>Have the ability with or without accommodations to meet the physical demands of the position. </li></ul> <p>Denver Public Schools is an Equal Opportunity Employer and does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex (including pregnancy, gender expression, and sexual orientation), parental status, national origin, age, disability, genetic information (including family medical history), political affiliation, military service, or any other status protected by law or regulations.
