We invite you to learn more about our strategic plan and core priorities on our website at https://salemk12.org/.</p> <p>What You'll Do:</p> <p>As a paraprofessional in the ELSA Multilingual Learner Summer Academy, you will be responsible for supporting the effective implementation of all aspects of the summer program, from classroom instruction to the daily operations of the program, including arrival, breakfast, lunch, recess and dismissal. You will also support the site coordinator in communicating with families. You may be asked to support small group instruction in the classroom to ensure that students can participate in student-centered groups that focus on specific skills and strategies they need to learn to further develop their English Language proficiency.</p> <p>Role Responsibilities:</p> <ol> <li>Teaching and Learning </li></ol> <ul> <li>Collaborate with ELSA teachers to deliver instruction during all academic blocks of the ELSA summer program. </li><li>Lead small-group centers, helping students achieve mastery on specific skills in each group. </li><li>Support students in a whole-class, small group, and 1:1 model, as needed. </li><li>Support students in staying focused and on-task, assist ELSA staff in holding high behavioral and classroom management expectations for all students. </li></ul> <ol start="2"> <li>Daily Operations </li></ol> <ul> <li>Monitor and support students during transition points in the day. </li><li>Support family communication and site coordinator </li><li>Oversee arrival, breakfast, recess, lunch and dismissal </li><li>Support ELSA staff in monitoring students during field trips </li><li>Engage in job-related professional development </li><li>Support and collaborate with the special education and general education teachers on an ongoing basis </li><li>Reinforce lessons with individual or small groups of students under the direction of the lead teacher </li><li>Assist with classroom management & supervision; administer behavior modification programs/point systems, and engage in data collection under the direction of the classroom teacher </li><li>Assist teacher in implementing accommodations, specialized strategies for instruction, and skill reinforcement </li><li>Facilitate social interactions and model language between peers </li><li>Escort and assist students as needed throughout the building, on community based experiences, and on/off the bus </li><li>Follow direction of supervisor and assure safety of students at all times </li><li>Additional duties as assigned by supervisor. </li></ul> <p>What You'll Bring:</p> <p>We are looking for candidates who have diverse backgrounds and experiences, are inspired by our mission and are highly motivated to change children's lives through education.
