<p>This Opportunity</p> <p>WSP is currently initiating a search for a Full-Time Senior Technical Manager, Communications System Engineer for our office in New York, NY. The following locations will also be considered: Newark, NJ and Valhalla, NY. Be involved in projects with our Transit and Rail Communications Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our clients' objectives and solves their challenges.</p> <p>Your Impact</p> <ul> <li>Leads the design process for security systems (access control/video surveillance) and communications for transit and rail/transportation facilities projects. </li><li>Draws on experience in A/E design process to produce final constructible plans and specifications. </li><li>Review regulations and standards necessary to conduct technical studies and carry out project activities. </li><li>Analyzes project task needs, changes and enhancements and makes recommendations. </li><li>Serves as Task Lead and/or PM on projects, medium to high complexity and provides direction for projects, able to perform and complete tasks independently. </li><li>Stays abreast of industry changes and requirements, policies, procedures and legislation. </li><li>Strong understanding of scope, schedule and budget. </li><li>Assist with the development of other engineers and transfer of technical knowledge/skills. </li><li>Participate in design reviews, safety assessments, and quality assurance activities, offering expert systems engineering insight. </li><li>Analyzes project task needs, changes and enhancements and makes recommendations. </li><li>Prepares and gives briefings and presentations, advises senior management. </li><li>Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures. </li><li>Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs. </li><li>Ability to travel or perform occasional field surveys. </li></ul> <p>Who You Are</p> <p>Required Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline with a focus on rail signaling. </li><li>Minimum 10 years of experience in Communications/Network engineering. </li><li>Experience with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint. </li><li>Technical writing, analytical and communication skills. </li><li>Detail-oriented with an emphasis on quality work products. </li><li>The selected candidate must have the ability to work in the United States immediately. </li><li>Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies. </li><li>Basic leadership abilities, capable of coordinating cross-functional teams and delivering on schedule. </li><li>Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with clients, partners, and internal stakeholders. </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>A minimum of ten years' relevant experience in A/E firm designing communications systems or demonstrated equivalency of experience. </li><li>Knowledge of engineering design standards and process, guidelines, principles and practices with an emphasis on communications and physical security. </li><li>Documented experience in security and communications systems such as access control, IP video, networks, cabling infrastructure (ISP & OSP), wireless network, PA/VIS, radio and other low voltage systems used at airports, rail stations, bridges and tunnels, highways and marine ports. </li><li>Familiarity with NYC area transportation agencies such as Amtrak, LIRR, MNR, NYCT, NJT, PANYNJ and their technical approach. </li><li>Profession registration, PE in NY or NJ </li><li>Experience with AutoCAD, REVIT and Microstation. </li><li>Relocation assistance is not available for this position. </li><li>Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements. </li></ul> <p>WSP Benefits:</p> <p>WSP provides a comprehensive suite of benefits focused on a providing health and financial stability throughout the employee's career.
