<p>Overview</p> <p>The successful candidate must provide technical assistance and overall direction to a team of hourly representative employees. Core to this position is the successful performance of the team's Safety, Quality, Cost, schedule and continuous Improvement.</p> <p>Effective communication, leadership, creating a positive team environment with employees and peers is key to success for the selected candidate. This position of Operations Supervisor provides a platform to gain a working knowledge of various manufacturing environments and their relationships with other parts of Electric Boat business. This is an excellent opportunity for an Engineer or experienced trades-person to advance into a career-building leadership position and gain invaluable experience to support their career development.</p> <p>Roles and Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Lead the activities of approximately 15 Piping Trades employees in the performance of preparing, assembling and installing equipment on-board submarines </li><li>Primary point of contact to interface with Engineering, Ship's Management, Quality and other trade departments </li><li>Lead the team to achievement of company goals for Safety, Quality, Cost, Schedule and Process Improvement </li><li>Take ownership of team performance </li></ul> <p>Qualifications</p> <p>Required:</p> <ul> <li>High School diploma/GED </li><li>3+ years of piping trade experience </li></ul> <p>Preferred:</p> <ul> <li>College/technical school AS/BS Degree in any Engineering discipline </li><li>5+ years of piping experience is desired </li><li>Previous supervisory experience </li><li>Previous related Military/Navy experience </li><li>Nuclear qualifications </li></ul> <p>Skills</p> <ul> <li>Have the ability to read and interpret Blue Prints, procedures, and related reference documents </li><li>Have the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with subordinates and supervisors </li><li>Must be able to work all assigned shifts </li><li>Must be able to work extended hours </li><li>Must be able to go on road assignments as business needs dictate </li><li>Applicant must apply for a DOD security clearance as a condition of employment </li><li>Capable of reading, interpreting and putting into effect plans, procedures and instructions </li><li>Attention to detail </li><li>Proficient in MS Word, Excel and Power Point and with a computer </li><li>Good presentation skills preferred </li></ul> <p>Physical Qualifications</p> <p>Climbing, Color Vision, Crawling, Heavy Lifting, Kneeling, Light Lifting, Medium Lifting, Pulling, Pushing, Reaching, Stooping, Twisting</p> <p>Environmental Attributes</p> <p>Acids or Alkalis, Cold, Dry, Dusty, Fumes, Hot, Inside, Noise, Oily, Outside, Wet</p>
