<p>Job Description:</p> <p>POSITION TITLE: Fire Science Supplemental Instructor (Basic EMT; Part-Time)</p> <p>DEPARTMENT: Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, and Education Programs (STEM-E)</p> <p>REPORTS TO: Dean of STEM-E</p> <p>POSITION STATUS: This is a Part-Time, non-unit position without benefits.</p> <p>LOCATION: Primarily Fall River and/or New Bedford, but other campuses also as needed</p> <p>SALARY: $30.00/hr</p> <p>STATEMENT OF DUTIES:</p> <p>Semester Availability</p> <ul> <li>Spring Semester: 4 hours every Saturday morning for 15 weeks </li><li>Fall Semester: 4 hours every Saturday morning for 15 weeks </li></ul> <p>The Fire Science Program at Bristol Community College is seeking a qualified and motivated Basic EMT Instructor Assistant to support instruction in its Emergency Medical Technician (EMT-B) program. This part-time position works closely with the Lead Instructor to facilitate high-quality EMT education through classroom instruction, skills labs, and realistic scenario-based training. The Instructor Assistant plays a vital role in student learning, skills competency, and program success.</p> <p>ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <p>Instructional Support</p> <ul> <li>Assist with teaching and demonstrating EMT-B curriculum and core skills. </li><li>Reinforce course content aligned with the Massachusetts EMT-Basic curriculum, National EMS Education Standards, and program learning outcomes. </li><li>Provide hands-on skills instruction, including scenario-based learning and psychomotor skill development, during skill labs and practice sessions. </li><li>Provide coaching, tutoring, and guided practice to students. </li><li>Model professional EMS behaviors, communication, and clinical decision-making. </li></ul> <p>Lab Management</p> <ul> <li>Setup, maintain, and break down skills stations. </li><li>Manage equipment and supplies to ensure readiness and proper use. </li><li>Maintain a safe, organized, and professional learning environment. </li></ul> <p>Student Support and Evaluation</p> <ul> <li>Observe student performance and provide formative feedback consistent with program standards. </li><li>Assist in observing and documenting student progress during labs and simulations. </li><li>Provide feedback to the Lead Instructor regarding student readiness, engagement, and areas requiring additional support. </li><li>Help facilitate realistic, scenario-based training exercises. </li></ul> <p>Work Schedule</p> <ul> <li>4 hours every Saturday Morning. </li><li>Required availability for both Spring and Fall semesters (15 weeks each). </li></ul> <p>Others</p> <ul> <li>Maintain appropriate student confidentiality in accordance with FERPA and College policies. </li><li>Complete required trainings such as, but not limited to, Title IX, FERPA, and Information Security. </li><li>Demonstrate a sense of professionalism and consistently reflect Bristol's core values while interacting with members of the Bristol community. </li><li>Focus on the Commonwealth's Equity Agenda by applying related best practices throughout all job functions. </li><li>Perform other duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>Requirements:</p> <p>REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <p>NOTE: Unless otherwise noted, all required qualifications must be met by date of hire.</p> <p>Must include the following:</p> <ul> <li>Current Massachusetts EMT Certification in Good Standing. </li><li>Minimum of 3 years of experience in providing direct patient care. </li><li>Demonstrated competency in all NREMT EMT skills. </li><li>Strong communication, presentation, and organizational skills. </li><li>Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 applications. </li><li>The ability to work effectively with a diverse student body, faculty, and staff. </li><li>Reliable transportation to travel to and from meetings, trainings, or campus and community locations as required. </li></ul> <p>PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <p>Training</p> <ul> <li>Current Massachusetts Paramedic Certification </li><li>Successful completion of an EMT Instructor Training Course </li><li>Ability to communicate in a language in addition to English </li></ul> <p>PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:</p> <p>The employee must meet the physical demands and work environment of the position.
