<p>Job Description:</p> <p>Position Description:</p> <p>The position is responsible for coaching student athletes to prepare them for athletic competition. Position motivates student athletes to develop an appreciation of the sport.</p> <p>Essential Functions:</p> <ul> <li>Participates in organizational meetings for team prospects and encourages potential athletes to participate in the sport. </li><li>Assess players' skills and assign team positions as requested/required </li><li>Coaches and instruct players, individually or in groups, regarding the rules, regulations, equipment, and techniques of the sport </li><li>Observes players during competition and practice to determine the needs for individual or team improvement. </li><li>Determines game strategies based on the team's capabilities. </li><li>Assist in maintaining standards of pupil behavior and providing proper supervision of athletes at all times. </li><li>Monitors the academic performance of team members to ensure that eligibility requirements are met. </li><li>Follows established procedures in the event of an athlete's injury. </li><li>Conferences with parents/guardians, as necessary, regarding the athletic performance of their student. </li><li>Follows state, regional, and district regulations governing the athletic program. </li><li>Models sports-like behavior and maintains appropriate conduct towards players, officials, and spectators. </li><li>Acts as a team representative and promotes the sport by communicating with the news media, booster clubs, service clubs, and other organizations as requested/required. </li><li>Follows established procedures for the proper care, maintenance, and requisitioning of equipment, supplies, and uniforms. </li><li>Participates in special activities, including parents' night, banquets, award nights, and pep assemblies. </li><li>Interact positively with staff, students, and parents. </li><li>Promote good public relations by personal appearance, attitude, and conversation. </li></ul> <p>Knowledge/Skills:</p> <ul> <li>Experience working with children </li><li>Knowledge of the academic area </li><li>Ability to communicate ideas and directives clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing </li><li>Practical, active listening skills </li><li>Ability to work effectively with others </li><li>Organizational and problem-solving skills </li><li>Ability to work effectively with others </li><li>Basic computer skills </li></ul> <p>Qualifications/Certificates:</p> <ul> <li>High School Diploma </li><li>Connecticut Coaching Certificate (or eligibility); Current First Aid/CPR/AED Training; CT Coaching Module #15 Certificate </li><li>years of coaching experience, preferred </li><li>Must possess effective coaching techniques and skills </li><li>Must possess knowledge of rules, regulations, strategies, and techniques of the sport </li><li>Bilingual in Spanish, preferred </li></ul> <p>Click to Apply at:</p> <p>Windham Public Schools</p> <p>WINDHAM IS AN EQUAL OPPORTUNITY EMPLOYER</p> <p>It is the policy of the Windham Public Schools to ensure equal employment opportunity to every person regardless of race, color, religion, creed, age, marital status, national origin, gender; gender identity or expression, sexual preference or physical and mental disability; and to ensure equal educational opportunity for all students nd to prohibit unlawful discrimination because of race, color, religion, creed, age, marital status, national origin, gender, sexual preference, or physical and mental disability in the schdistrict'sct's educational program and activities.</p>
