<p>The Pediatric Urologist is accountable for delivering comprehensive quality patient care, including diagnostic and interventions according to standards of practice for children from birth through adulthood. The Urologist will diagnose and treat a broad range of health concerns ranging from benign and malignant medical and surgical disorders of the genitourinary system.</p> <p>Role Responsibilities</p> <p>Assess, evaluate, diagnose and treat patients from birth through adulthood with benign and malignant medical and surgical disorders of the genitourinary system such as from the most common conditions like bed-wetting and urinary tract infections, to more serious and complex issues including congenital malformations.</p> <p>Performs and/or orders clinically appropriate procedures for each patient.</p> <p>Analyze medical histories, diagnostic lab test and x-ray results, clinical examinations and perform physical examinations in formulating a diagnosis, plan of care and documenting in conformity with applicable professional standards, third party payer requirements and the Division's policies and procedures.</p> <p>Prescribes clinically appropriate medication and treatment for each patient.</p> <p>Consults with Medical Director, Division Chief and other medical professionals as needed regarding patient care, assessment, and education issues.</p> <p>Works collaboratively with and refers patients to other physicians, including specialists and other health care practitioners, when necessary.</p> <p>Keeps and maintains accurate, complete, appropriate, timely and legible medical records relating to all professional services provided.</p> <p>Uses and promotes evidence-based clinical practice.</p> <p>Reviews on a regular basis long term cases that require ongoing medical attention.</p> <p>Participates in quality improvement, management, continuing education, and other patient care programs established by the hospital.</p> <p>Provides appropriate documentation that meets insurance company requirements; appeal all denials in a timely manner.</p> <p>Assists in the resolution of complaints, requests and inquiries from patients.</p> <p>Maintains professionalism and follows code of conduct.</p> <p>Participate in teaching and learning in an integrated academic model of medical students, residents and fellows in addition to participating in peer review, development and consultation. Academic/scholarly work and division citizenship as per division chief.</p> <p>Performs other job-related duties as assigned.</p> <p>EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE REQUIRED</p> <p>MD, DO degree</p> <p>2 (two) years of Experience in a Pediatric Hospitalist setting preferred.</p> <p>LICENSE and/or CERTIFICATION REQUIRED</p> <p>Board eligible or certified in Urology</p> <p>Licensed and registered, and in good standing under the laws of the State of Connecticut</p> <p>Active and Unrestricted D.E.A. Certificate</p>
