<p>Minimum Qualifications</p> <p>Bachelor's degree in law enforcement, criminal justice, business or public administration, or a related field; two years of responsible accreditation experience with a law enforcement agency (law enforcement experience preferred); or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of accreditation standards applicable to the Sheriff's Office and the Accreditation process. Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of law enforcement practices, programs, and operations; ability to read and understand a wide range on technical literature; to complete assignments in a timely manner, and deal tactfully, professionally and effectively with others to complete assigned tasks; to communicate effectively orally and in writing; to prepare, edit, and maintain accurate documents, reports, records, files, and materials; ability to read, understand and interpret technical materials concerning law enforcement and criminal justice purposes.</p> <p>Pre-employment drug testing, FBI criminal background check (including polygraph examination), and education/degree verification required.</p> <p>This position is subject to working in high security areas governed by the US Department of Justice's "Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Security Policy" and therefore requires successfully passing a more stringent criminal background check. Must be a US citizen or have been a lawful resident for the US for the past ten years.</p> <p>This position is considered Critical Safety Sensitive and is subject to random drug and alcohol testing. The use of medical marijuana for this position is prohibited.</p> <p>Duties</p> <p>To work alongside the full-time Accreditation Manager maintaining the department's accreditation by reviewing, revising, gathering documentation, and updating all the information in the electronic filing system to ensure departmental compliance with the standards set forth by the Virginia Law Enforcement Professional Standards Commission (VLEPSC) and National Commission on Correctional Health (NCCHC). This position will ideally be a certified Assessor/Team leader that conducts, when needed, mock and official on-site inspections of all agency files, processes, and properties to determine if agency meets accredited/re-accredited status through the Virginia Law Enforcement Professional Standards Commission (VLEPSC) and the National Commission on Correctional Health Care (NCCHC). This position will directly and indirectly be responsible for the department's policies and standard operating procedures to include writing Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's), reviewing, researching applicable laws, updating master table of contents, initiating annual reviews, and distribution of updated information. Participates in the policy process by determining what can and cannot be changed in policy as related to accreditation, training standards, County Policy and/or law; maintains a schedule of documents that can be destroyed per the Virginia Retention Schedule as well as maintaining oversight of department records. Participates in and schedules audits and inspections. Performs other work as required.</p> <p>Shift</p> <p>Approximately 28 hours/week; Monday - Friday</p> <p>Work Location</p> <p>Sheriff's Office</p>
