<p>Job Title: Polymer Chemist</p> <p>Job Description</p> <p>We are seeking a skilled Polymer Chemist responsible for testing new architectural paint materials within a laboratory setting. The ideal candidate will mix chemicals and additives to create architectural paint, ensuring quality standards and considering environmental impact. This role involves selecting appropriate resins, pigments, additives, and solvents to achieve desired properties like adhesion, durability, color, and gloss. The Polymer Chemist will conduct laboratory testing such as viscosity, draw downs on different substrates, stain resistance, and application testing. Additionally, providing technical support for key innovation projects and customer services is essential. The candidate must ensure lab safety, follow general safety procedures, conduct hands-on work in the lab, and collaborate with scientists and technicians to plan and execute technical lab work.</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Test new architectural paint materials within a laboratory setting. </li><li>Mix chemicals and additives to create architectural paint, ensuring quality standards and considering environmental impact. </li><li>Select appropriate resins, pigments, additives, and solvents to achieve desired properties like adhesion, durability, color, and gloss. </li><li>Conduct laboratory testing such as viscosity, draw downs on different substrates, stain resistance, and application testing. </li><li>Provide technical support for key innovation projects and customer services. </li><li>Ensure lab safety and follow general safety procedures. </li><li>Conduct hands-on work in the lab to provide reliable results. </li><li>Collaborate with scientists and other technicians to plan and execute technical lab work. </li></ul> <p>Essential Skills</p> <ul> <li>Proficiency in chemistry, paint, and coating technologies. </li><li>Expertise in polymer chemistry. </li><li>Experience with viscosity, application testing, draw downs, and stain resistance. </li></ul> <p>Additional Skills & Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Diploma with 5+ years of hands-on paint/coating lab experience. </li><li>Associates degree with 3+ years of hands-on paint/coating lab experience. </li><li>Bachelor's degree with 2+ years of hands-on paint/coating lab experience. </li><li>Experience working with and making paint or coatings (architectural paint preferred). </li><li>Experience conducting lab testing such as viscosity and application testing. </li></ul> <p>Work Environment</p> <p>This role is based in an Applications Lab. You will work within the highly specialized Architectural Paint division, alongside experts in the industry. The position offers valuable one-on-one training and tutoring while developing new and formulating existing paint for architectural purposes.
