<p>Overview</p> <p>The Quality Engineer optimizes the quality of Bruno products by acting as a key liaison between engineering, manufacturing, assembly, test, & packaging operations, and supply chain management.</p> <p>Provides input to product documentation such as drawings, specifications, and inspection and testing methods and plans.</p> <p>Supports internal operations by educating employees, working to resolve product and process quality issues, and tracking, trending, & reporting performance data.</p> <p>Communicates quality plans, quality issues, and performance data to suppliers in support of new product introductions as well as serial production.</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <p>QUALITY CONTROL AND ASSURANCE</p> <ul> <li>Define quality standards, create inspection plans, develop test methods </li><li>Implement statistical process control methods and techniques to monitor and control manufacturing processes </li><li>Inspect raw materials, components, assemblies, and processes, either personally or utilizing Quality Technicians, to ensure that requirements are met </li><li>Ensure calibration of gages and measuring equipment is in compliance and records are maintained </li><li>Track performance data, analyze results, and generate reports to identify areas for improvement </li></ul> <p>PROBLEM SOLVING AND IMPROVEMENT</p> <ul> <li>Investigate non-conformances to determine root cause, recommend corrective actions </li><li>Lead cross-functional problem-solving teams to address complex issues </li><li>Implement corrective & preventive actions and verify outcomes - both internally and with suppliers </li><li>Identify opportunities for improvement in manufacturing processes and product quality </li></ul> <p>COLLABORATION AND COMPLIANCE</p> <ul> <li>Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and other teams to ensure quality is integrated throughout the product life cycle </li><li>Interact with suppliers, including supplier visits, to facilitate effective communication </li><li>Maintain detailed documentation, including quality plans, inspection reports, and validation protocols </li><li>Communicate with internal departments, suppliers, auditors, etc. in verbal and written format </li><li>Maintain knowledge of industry regulations and standards to ensure the company remains compliant </li><li>Identify gaps in the Quality Management System and initiate updates to address the gap </li><li>Train others in quality processes, procedures, and tools </li><li>Participate in interviewing, hiring, and on-boarding new employees as appropriate </li></ul> <p>Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in quality, engineering, manufacturing, and a minimum of 3-years' experience in Quality </li><li>Certification to a recognized body of knowledge, such as ASQ Certified Quality Engineer is preferred </li><li>Work experience in the relevant areas, along with increasing responsibilities over time </li><li>Problem solving, corrections, corrective action and project management </li><li>Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) </li><li>Quality Management Systems, such as ISO-9001 or ISO-13485 </li><li>Knowledge of inspection equipment and techniques, engineering drawing standards, and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) </li><li>Process knowledge, including machining, forming, welding, fabrication, plastics, castings, electro-mechanical assembly, test, and packaging </li><li>Lean manufacturing concepts in a low volume, high mix environment such as 5-S, kanban, one-piece flow and error-proofing </li></ul> <p>Skills and Abilities:</p> <ul> <li>Read, analyze, and interpret a variety of information, such as technical procedures, business correspondence, and governmental regulations furnished in written, oral or diagram form. </li><li>Create business-level written correspondence and verbally present information to internal and external professionals. </li><li>Requires job related software skills, Smartsheet, PcDIMIS, Polyworks, CAD such as SolidWorks, MS Office and the ability to operate a variety of standard office equipment. </li></ul> <p>Working Conditions/Physical Demands:</p> <ul> <li>Share duties between an office environment and a modern production and manufacturing facilities with heat and air conditioning </li><li>Regularly required to move around, sit, stand, use hands to finger, handle, and touch; see, talk and hear </li><li>The employee is required to travel between facilities as well as occasional travel to supplier locations </li><li>The employee is required to lift up to 10 pounds regularly and 50 pounds occasionally </li></ul>
