<p>Position Summary</p> <p>The General Manager of Experiences and Events supports the mission of the Wisconsin Historical Society by leading the design, delivery, and evaluation of engaging experiences, educational programs, and special events for diverse audiences.</p> <p>This senior-level leadership role is part of the OWW management team and regularly collaborates with the Director and colleagues to shape strategic direction. The General Manager oversees teams responsible for guest experiences, special events, PK-12 educational programs, and related operational areas, ensuring alignment with institutional goals and guest service standards.</p> <p>Responsibilities include supervision of staff and seasonal LTE team members, care and use of historical collections for interpretive purposes, collaboration across internal departments, budget and resource management, and contributions to fundraising efforts through sponsorships, grants, and earned revenue.</p> <p>Salary Information</p> <p>Starting hourly wage is between $35.00 and $37.00 per hour, depending on qualifications, plus excellent benefits. This position is in pay schedule and range 81-03, and the classification is Historic Site Coordinator. This topic and any remote work flexibility that may be available will be discussed in more detail in the interview process.</p> <p>Qualifications</p> <p>Please make sure to describe the following qualifications within your resume and/or letter of qualifications in order to be considered for this position.</p> <p>Minimally qualified candidates will have experience in all of the following:</p> <ul> <li>Experience planning and implementing a program or public event </li><li>Experience presenting or coordinating performances, shows, or public activities as part of an educational program, guest experience, or sponsored event. </li><li>Experience operating or supporting daily functions of an attraction open to the public (e.g., museum, visitor center, historical site, zoo, theme park) </li><li>Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, with some experience supervising staff or volunteers </li><li>General experience developing schedules, managing supplies, or supporting public events logistically </li></ul> <p>In addition to minimum qualifications, a well-qualified candidate will additionally have experience in one of the following areas:</p> <ul> <li>Experience leading and supervising a team to plan and implement a variety of guest experiences as part of daily operations at a museum, zoo, theme park or other attractions open to the public </li><li>Demonstrated experience designing and managing educational, interpretive, or entertainment programming that aligns with an organizational mission </li><li>Experience supervising or applying collections policies and/or historical artifacts in a public program setting </li><li>Experience training or onboarding seasonal or part-time teams, including developing training content and performance standards </li><li>Strong collaboration with marketing, facilities, food service, and guest services to produce integrated visitor experiences </li></ul> <p>How To Apply</p> <p>To apply, click "Apply for Job" to start the application process.
