<p>Position Summary</p> <p>Represent the Department of Revenue in tax cases before the Tax Appeals Commission and in cases before other administrative agencies and the courts, and in assessor decertification proceedings; provide legal advice and opinions on a variety of legal questions; and review proposed legislation and rules.</p> <p>Here is a copy of the position description.</p> <p>Salary Information</p> <p>The starting rate for this position is between $78,686 to $123,052 annually ($37.83 to $59.16 hourly), depending on qualifications, plus excellent benefits. Pay will be set in accordance with the State of Wisconsin Compensation Plan in effect at the time of hire. Starting pay for current state employees may vary based on applicable provisions in the Compensation Plan.</p> <p>Job Details</p> <p>Background Checks: Due to the nature of this position, final candidates will be subject to criminal background, fingerprint, and tax compliance checks.</p> <p>I-9 Requirements: Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States (i.e., a citizen or national of the U.S., a lawful permanent resident, an alien authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship) at the time of appointment. The Department of Revenue does not sponsor work or student visas and is not an eligible OPT employer for those with F1 visas. DOR participates in E-Verify and will provide the federal government with Form I-9 information for all new employees to confirm authorization to work in the U.S.</p> <p>Probationary Period: A 12-month probationary period will be required.</p> <p>Remote/Telework up to 60%. Note: During probation you will have the opportunity to gradually increase to 60% (i.e., working remotely three (3) days per week, and will report to the 2135 Rimrock Road; Madison WI building, two (2) days per week) within 9 months (of your 12-month probation) based on performance and workload needs. Remote work is intended to be performed primarily in the State of Wisconsin and is subject to change based on business needs.</p> <p>Qualifications</p> <p>Minimum qualified candidates will have each of the following:</p> <ol> <li> <p>Graduated from an accredited law school.</p> </li><li> <p>Possession of a license to practice law in the State of Wisconsin (WI); OR will be licensed to practice law in the state of WI prior to the appointment date, and describes this ability in the application materials (e.g., currently licensed to practice law in another state and have applied for license to practice in WI.).</p> </li><li> <p>Tax or civil litigation education or experience.</p> </li></ol> <p>Well qualified candidates will have experience in one or more of the following (in addition to the minimum qualifications):</p> <ol> <li> <p>Tax and civil litigation</p> </li><li> <p>Real estate law</p> </li><li> <p>Corporate or business law</p> </li></ol> <p>How To Apply</p> <p>To be considered for this position, you must complete the online application.
