We look forward to receiving your candidacy and we welcome a diverse candidate pool!</p> <p>Position: (2) Elementary Library Media Specialists</p> <p>Location: 1 at Lake Garda School, 1 at Harwinton Consolidated School</p> <p>Reports to: Building Principal</p> <p>Starting Date: Commencement of the 2025-2026 school year</p> <p>RSD 10 is seeking a passionate and dedicated Library Media Specialist for each of its elementary schools to join our incredible team of educators. The ideal candidate will create a community that supports and promotes the love of reading in all its forms, a balanced approach to multimedia, digital literacy and digital citizenship. The candidate will make the media center inviting, a place for curiosity, wonder, and belonging. The media center is the hub of the school that supports the RSD 10 shared definition of high-quality learning, our Vision of the Graduate and our district's commitment to equity. The Library Media Specialist is a key member of faculty who helps students develop the skills, attitudes and knowledge to become critical consumers of media content, curious explorers of genres, passions, interests, and engaged readers - both in and out of school. The Library Media Specialist collaborates with professional colleagues, partnering in an interdisciplinary approach to learning - ELA, STEM, Social Studies, and the Fine Arts all come alive in the Media Center. The ideal candidate will provide both direct instruction and push-in support in the classrooms to develop the age-appropriate media, technology and literacy skills that are essential in society today. Library Media Specialists have opportunities for horizontal and vertical partnerships with each other and professional learning at the building and district-wide levels. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong communication skills, high expectations for all, nurturing classroom management skills, creativity, and a genuine love for teaching young learners. The candidate has a working knowledge and belief that all students can grow and that their social-emotional wellness is a core part of their development.</p> <p>Required Education & Certification: School Library Media Specialist Certification (062) with 30 Graduate Semester Hrs. In School Library Media</p> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Experience with Microsoft Office 365 suite of apps and the ability to teach basic Office skills to elementary students </li><li>Knowledge of AI in education - uses, opportunities and challenges </li><li>Knowledge and application of developmentally appropriate, safe search research tools, databases and resources, such as Gale, Brittanica, EBSCO, Overdrive's SORA </li><li>Knowledge of library cataloguing and check-out software, such as Titlewave: Destiny </li><li>Involvement with professional networks in support of current practices, book recommendations, book awards at the state and national levels (CLC, ALA, CASL) </li><li>Knowledge of Common Sense Media resources in support of digital citizenship </li></ul> <p>The ideal candidate will have in-depth knowledge and experience in a combination of the following areas:</p> <ul> <li>School culture and climate engagement </li><li>The ability to partner with teachers on technology integration, research topics, interdisciplinary projects </li><li>Exceptional planning and communication with the school community about reading events, author visits, state and national book/reading highlights </li><li>The skills needed to foster a positive library environment with a focus on building strong relationships, fostering student interest and passions, promoting social and emotional skills, and creating a safe space where students feel valued </li></ul> <p>Date Posted: May 1, 2025</p> <p>Application Deadline: Open Until Filled</p> <p>Round One Interviews Will Begin in mid-May</p> <p>Application Procedure: Please apply on-line at www.region10ct.org.</p> <p>Internal Candidates: Complete an updated resume and letter of interest through Frontline by the closing of the posting.
