No VP Area Academic Affairs Department 00790 - Marriott Library - Operations Location Campus City Salt Lake City, UT Type of Recruitment External Posting Pay Rate Range 15.65 Close Date 06/08/2026 Priority Review Date (Note - Posting may close at any time) Job Summary</p> <p>This position regularly requires the part-time staff member to assist on-going departmental projects. Projects include working with Media Studios staff to film, record, and edit on-going projects. The position will also help create new projects by consulting and collaborating with students, staff and faculty.</p> <p>For the Library to be able to appropriately monitor hours worked, part-time employees are generally asked to restrict their work with the University of Utah to Library employment only, unless an exception is granted.</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <p>Applicants selected for interview will be asked to post a video demo reel to a cloud storage/streaming site and provide the URL in their application.</p> <p>The applicant selected for this position must be willing to work a flexible schedule of up to 19 hours per week.</p> <p>This position may require independent interactions with full-time library colleagues, as well as individuals and organizations on campus and in regional arts, architecture, and planning communities. The staff member will serve as an official representative of the University of Utah Marriott Library in these instances, requiring knowledgeable, confident, and professional interactions.</p> <p>The following skills and traits will help the part-time staff member to thrive in this position:</p> <ul> <li>A mind for organization, attention to detail, and creative problem-solving </li><li>Willingness to share ideas, offer opinions, and lead initiatives </li><li>Familiarity with basic audio, video, and visual/audio storytelling/storyboarding </li><li>Effective communication skills; clear and articulate writing and speaking </li><li>Friendly and approachable demeanor while interacting with library visitors </li><li>Ability to work independently while reaching toward a common, team goal </li></ul> <p>Minimum Qualifications</p> <p>Must be a current University of Utah student enrolled 6 undergraduate credit hours or 5 graduate credit hours during the fall and spring semesters.</p> <p>Preferences</p> <ul> <li>Education/Work Experience: Preference will be given to a student working toward a degree in visual or performing arts, communication, or film/media studies </li><li>Academic background in visual or performing arts, documentary studies, music, or communication, or film/media studies </li><li>Advanced experience with multimedia editing software (such as Adobe CS suite, Final Cut Pro, ProTools, Logic, Audacity, etc.), and experience with video, lighting, and sound recording equipment </li><li>Advanced experience with cinematography and/or videography.
