<p>General Function</p> <p>The Systems Administrator II is a mid-level position responsible for the deployment, configuration, maintenance, and support of enterprise IT systems, cloud platforms, and endpoint infrastructure. This role performs advanced troubleshooting, optimizes system performance, and proactively monitors IT services to ensure stability, security, and efficiency.</p> <p>This position responds to incidents and major incidents, remediates security vulnerabilities, and identifies opportunities to improve system operations. It also assesses infrastructure needs, refines patch management strategies, and conducts impact assessments for system changes to enhance overall efficiency</p> <p>Applicants are encouraged to apply promptly, as this posting may be taken down before the listed closing date once adequate candidate interest has been reached.</p> <p>Duties and Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Deploys, configures, and maintains enterprise IT systems, cloud platforms, and endpoint infrastructure. </li><li>Manages Group Policy (GPO), Active Directory (AD), and system policies to enforce security, access control, and compliance, including automation where applicable. </li><li>Performs administration tasks on one or more enterprise systems, which may include Ellucian ERP/SIS, Microsoft 365, Microsoft SharePoint, Microsoft Entra, LMS/online learning platforms, Windows or Linux servers, or others as needed. </li><li>Performs advanced troubleshooting and root cause analysis for system issues, escalating when necessary. </li><li>Supports enterprise software deployment, security patching, and compliance management for servers and endpoints. </li><li>Monitors system performance, analyzes trends, and implements optimizations to enhance stability and efficiency. </li><li>Develops and maintains technical documentation, including system configurations and knowledge base articles. </li><li>Administers enterprise tools such as configuration management platforms, software distribution systems, and cloud-based infrastructure services. </li><li>Works with vendors and third-party service providers to troubleshoot and support technology platforms </li><li>Conducts software and hardware testing. </li><li>Uses the IT service management (ITSM) platform to track work, manage service requests, and ensure timely resolution of incidents. </li><li>Other duties as assigned </li></ul> <p>Minimum Requirements and Preferred Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Associate degree from a regionally accredited institution in information technology, computer science, or a </li></ul> <p>related field, and two to four years of experience in system administration or a related IT role.</p> <ul> <li>A combination of additional experience, industry certifications, and/or completed college-level coursework </li></ul> <p>may substitute for the degree requirement.</p> <ul> <li>ITIL 4 Foundations certification obtained within 9 months of hire. </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate, Azure Administrator Associate, or </li></ul> <p>equivalent certification.</p> <ul> <li>Additional certifications such as CompTIA Linux+, VMware VCP, or Microsoft 365 demonstrating </li></ul> <p>proficiency in enterprise system administration.</p> <ul> <li>Three to five years of experience in: </li></ul> <p>o Administering enterprise systems such as ERP/SIS, identity platforms, or online learning environments.</p> <p>o Managing virtualized environments (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V).</p> <p>o Performing root cause analysis and implementing system optimizations</p> <p>Additional Information</p> <p>Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Worker Characteristics:</p> <ul> <li>Predictable, reliable, and prompt. </li><li>Strong verbal and written communication skills. </li><li>Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex system issues independently. </li><li>Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple responsibilities, and take initiative in improving IT operations. </li><li>Proficient in Windows or Linux server administration, including system automation, security hardening, and performance tuning. </li><li>Advanced experience with virtualization platforms such as VMware, Hyper-V, or Citrix. </li><li>In-depth knowledge of Active Directory (AD), Group Policy (GPO), and identity and access management (IAM) solutions. </li><li>Experience administering enterprise systems common to higher education institutions, including tasks such as configuration, maintenance, and user support. </li><li>Extensive knowledge and experience with storage, virtual machines, or Cisco UCS equipment. </li><li>Proficiency in endpoint management tools for enterprise-level software deployment and compliance enforcement. </li><li>Experience with cloud services, including Office 365 and Microsoft Azure. </li><li>Strong understanding of networking concepts, including VLANs, firewalls, routing, VPNs, DNS, DHCP, and remote access troubleshooting. </li><li>Understanding of data retention and recovery strategies. </li><li>Able to assist vendors and other 3rd parties with the implementation of any professional service installations. </li></ul> <p>Working Conditions:</p> <ul> <li>This position is full-time </li><li>May be required to work outside normal business hours to support critical incidents, maintenance, or system upgrades. </li></ul>
