<p>Position Information</p> <p>Position Number 008554 Position Title HVAC Mechanic III - 008554 Division Finance and Administration Department 173740 - Central Utilities Minimum Qualifications</p> <p>High school diploma or equivalent, five years of experience in the operation and maintenance of HVAC systems, two of which were in a commercial/industrial setting, Refrigerant Transition and Recovery Certification, and possession of a valid driver's license and maintenance of a driving record sufficient to maintain coverage under the University of South Alabama. Completion of an HVAC training program may substitute for two years of the required experience.</p> <p>Preferred Qualifications Job Description Summary</p> <p>The University of South Alabama's Central Utilities department is seeking to hire an HVAC Mechanic III. Interested candidates should apply to be considered.</p> <p>Essential Functions</p> <p>These are the job duties required of the position.</p> <p>Essential Functions</p> <ul> <li>Responsible for the operation, maintenance, and repair of refrigeration and air conditioning equipment and controls. </li><li>Maintains and operates electronic control systems, calibrates, repairs, and installs components of building control management systems. </li><li>Reading blue prints and schematics to determine location, size, capacity, and type of component needed to repair equipment and/or systems. </li><li>Maintains and operates electronic controls systems for HVAC equipment (heating, ventilation, air-conditioning) and refrigeration. </li><li>Inspects and tests building control management systems for proper operation. </li><li>Responds to problems with HVAC systems by troubleshooting and taking appropriate action to correct. </li><li>Maintains controls for distribution systems of high temperature hot water, natural gas, and domestic water. </li><li>Checks, modifies, repairs, tests, and troubleshoots the Johnson Controls building control management system. </li><li>Transports tools and materials to various work sites using a University vehicle. </li><li>Moves items weighing up to 50 lbs. </li><li>Climbs ladders to access work areas. </li><li>Works in closed areas of extreme hot or cold temperatures. </li><li>Regular and prompt attendance. </li><li>Ability to work schedule as defined and overtime as required. </li><li>Related duties as required. </li></ul> <p>Posting Information</p> <p>Number of Vacancies 1 Position End Date (if temporary) Job Open Date 02/22/2025 Job Close Date Open Until Filled Yes Special Instructions to Applicants Working Days Monday - Friday Working Hours 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. Job Location Main Campus Full-time or Part-Time Full Time Regular or Temporary Regular</p>
