<p>The Walt Disney Company</p> <p>Seas Husbandry Associate: Manatee (Casual Temporary)</p> <p>About the Role & Team</p> <p>As a Husbandry Associate, you will be learning the technical aspects of professional aquatic animal care, acquiring the basic husbandry skills to perform routine tasks at The Seas with Nemo & Friends and The Land under the direction of Animal Care management and guidance of Senior Aquarists.</p> <p>This role will be focused on the Manatee team at The Seas, which includes significant guest-facing responsibilities. You will spend a lot of time on microphone facilitating educational presentations and answering guest questions, creating meaningful and informative experiences.</p> <p>If selected for this hourly, casual temporary position, you will report to the Zoological Managers of the assigned area and team.</p> <p>This is a Casual Temporary or Seasonal role with no guarantee of weekly working hours, as hours will fluctuate based on business needs.</p> <p>What You Will Do</p> <ul> <li>Learn and demonstrate proficiency in basic husbandry skills including but not limited to feeding/watering, medicating, shifting, containment, documentation, and observation </li><li>Commit to creating positive and informative guest interaction opportunities, effectively interpreting your role to our guests </li><li>Facilitate guest education on microphone and answer questions about manatees and aquatic conservation </li><li>Work under close supervision with clearly defined procedures </li><li>Learn and perform the basic runs and routines of an area/team focused primarily on a narrow scope of species or routines </li><li>Exhibit positive leadership behaviors with peers and leaders </li></ul> <p>Required Qualifications & Skills</p> <ul> <li>Minimum one year paid work experience within an AZA Facility </li><li>SCUBA certified, and comfortable carrying, assembling, and wearing SCUBA tanks and gear daily </li><li>Ability to move 50 pounds </li><li>Availability to work Saturdays, with flexibility to work other days as needed </li><li>Strong communication and public speaking skills for guest engagement </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Previous AZA-accredited Aquarium experience </li><li>Scuba Rescue Certified </li><li>CPR and First Aid certified </li></ul> <p>Education</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in Marine Biology, Biological Sciences, Zoology preferred. </li></ul> <p>Perks</p> <p>Disney offers a rewards package to help you live your best life.
