Must be available to work additional hours as needed.</p> <p>Who May Apply?</p> <p>All persons legally authorized to work in the United States</p> <p>Overview</p> <p>The Assistant Director of Public Works is responsible for the effective and efficient performance of the missions of the City of Corpus Christi related to the day to day operations of Street Operations and/or Storm Water Division of Public Works.</p> <p>The Assistant Director serves in a senior leadership role to support the Department Director through long term strategic planning and displaying sound judgement in department programs and services.</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Bring about strategic change, both within and outside the organization, to meet organizational goals, establish an organizational vision and implement it in a continuously changing environment </li><li>Anticipate, embrace and make decisions that produce high-quality results and to improve service delivery by applying technical knowledge, analyzing problems and calculating risks </li><li>Supervise the daily operations of the Division and perform the administrative duties of the Division by overseeing staffing needs, progressive disciplinary actions, policy implementation, agenda/council action actions and training </li><li>Utilize leadership skills to lead people toward meeting the organization's vision, mission and goals </li><li>Ensure an inclusive workplace that fosters the development of others, facilitates cooperation and teamwork and supports constructive resolution of conflicts </li><li>Will have the ability to manage human, financial, data and information resources effectively </li><li>Identify and quantify the budgetary, personnel, equipment information technology, machinery and other resources needed to meet mission and goals at the lowest cost </li><li>Will have the ability to manage the engineering and/or technical organizations required to accomplish the goals of the department. Employ technical, along with problem-solving, interpersonal, and administrative skills, to provide value to customers by providing high quality service </li><li>May be asked to perform other duties as assigned </li></ul> <p>Knowledge, Skills and Abilities</p> <ul> <li>Must be able to employ technical, interpersonal and administrative skills, along with problem-solving, to provide value and high-quality service to customers </li><li>Interpret and apply Federal, State and Municipal and technical statutes and codes </li><li>Interpret and utilize Geographic Information data and maps; interpret the requirements and revisions necessary utilizing Engineering and Architectural drawings </li><li>Requires functional reasoning skills enabling the analysis of major problems that necessitate complex planning for interrelated activities that can span one or several work units </li><li>Requires situational reasoning skills allowing for the ability to exercise judgement, decisiveness, and innovation in situations involving broader aspects of the organization and outside organizations </li></ul> <p>Certifications, Licenses of Other Requirements</p> <ul> <li>Registered Professional Engineer (P.E.) in the State of Texas or another State required; or previous registration with the ability to obtain State of Texas registration within 6 months of hire date required </li><li>Previous experience with maintaining drainage infrastructure systems including surface drainage and pipes is required </li></ul> <p>Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Requires Bachelor's Degree </li><li>Minimum of seven (7) years of related experience </li><li>A valid driver's license is required.
