<p>The Division for Land-Grant Engagement at West Virginia University Research Corporation is currently accepting applications for a Mentoring Program Assistant.</p> <p>About the Opportunity</p> <p>The West Virginia University Extension Service (WVUES) is seeking applications for a grant funded mentoring program assistant. This position is part time and benefits eligible assignment with 4-H Youth Development for a period of 30 months. The position will work as an assistant to the Lewis County 4-H Agent to include school day, afterschool, and summer learning 4-H programs for Lewis County.</p> <p>At WVU Research Corporation, we strongly believe in work-life balance and keeping time for things we love outside our work. WVU Research Corporation offers a comprehensive benefits package with a variety of options to suit your needs:</p> <ul> <li>13 paid holidays (staff holiday calendar) </li><li>Paid Time off (PTO) </li><li>403(b) retirement savings with a fully vested 3% employee contribution match, (Employees have the option of contributing an additional 1-3% of their earnings to the plan, which is also matched by the WVURC) </li><li>A range of health insurance and other benefits </li><li>Dependent Education Scholarship </li><li>WVU Perks </li></ul> <p>What you'll do:</p> <ul> <li>Direct education focused on youth empowerment, advocacy, assessment, mentoring, and </li></ul> <p>communication skills.</p> <ul> <li> <p>Youth engagement will include regular school day, afterschool, summer enrichment, and some summer and weekends that will require overnights during the summer camping season.</p> </li><li> <p>Provide family education and support.</p> </li><li> <p>Training and education delivery for mentoring for 4-H youth and life skills curriculum.</p> </li><li> <p>Assist with summer engagement programs including Energy Express and 4-H camping.</p> </li><li> <p>Provide monthly 4-H Club Meetings</p> </li></ul> <p>Work Hours: 20 hours per week</p> <ul> <li> <p>Bachelor's degree</p> </li><li> <p>A minimum of one (1) year of experience in the following:</p> </li><li> <p>Volunteer or paid experience working with youth program delivery.</p> </li><li> <p>Technology proficient for teaching, data collecting and reporting</p> </li><li> <p>Any equivalent combination of related education and/or experience will be considered.</p> </li><li> <p>All qualifications must be met by the time of employment.</p> </li></ul> <p>Knowledge, Skills and Abilities</p> <ul> <li>Demonstrated ability to communicate, interact, and collaborate with both colleagues, </li></ul> <p>families and youth.</p> <ul> <li>Ability to pass WVUE Background and youth protection screening </li><li>Ability to travel as needed for position which may include occasional overnights for conferences, professional development and summer 4-H camping. </li><li>Willingness to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends </li><li>Ability to lift and carry materials needed to conduct trainings and perform duties of the position. </li><li>Ability to self-motivate and work independently of supervision </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Experience in curriculum delivery, facilitator skills and partnership development </li></ul>
