This job description does not constitute an employment contract.</p> <p>This position will report to the Director of Olympic Sports Performance. Responsibilities include, but not limited to assist in the development of strength, speed, flexibility and agility programs for assigned team(s); instruct student athletes on proper and safe strength and conditioning techniques and use of equipment; design programs for injury prevention; coordinate the re-conditioning of injured athletes with athletic trainers; assist in day-to-day operations of the training facility; communicate effectively with student athletes, staff and management; ensure compliance with University, Conference and NCAA rules and regulations and perform other related functions and duties as assigned.</p> <p>Minimum Qualifications: This position requires a Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in an appropriate area of specialization, and one year of coaching experience at the high school level or above. Successful experience as a graduate student or intern is acceptable for up to one year of the required experience. Additional education and/or experience may be required for certain sports, or for strength and conditioning coaches. Related coaching experience at the professional level can be substituted for the degree requirements.</p> <p>Degree Equivalency Clause: Four years of direct experience for a bachelor's degree.</p> <ul> <li>Senate Bill 1310- The Florida Senate (https://www.flsenate.gov/Session/Bill/2023/1310) is conditional upon meeting all employment eligibility requirements in the U.S. </li><li>SB 1310: Substitution of Work Experience for Postsecondary Education Requirements </li><li>A public employer may include a postsecondary degree as a baseline requirement only as an alternative to the number of years of direct experience required, not to exceed: </li><li>(a) Two years of direct experience for an associate degree; </li><li>(b) Four years of direct experience for a bachelor's degree; </li><li>(c) Six years of direct experience for a master's degree; </li><li>(d) Seven years of direct experience for a professional degree; or </li><li>(e) Nine years of direct experience for a doctoral degree </li><li>Related work experience may not substitute for any required licensure, certification, or registration required for the position of employment as established by the public employer and indicated in the advertised description of the position of employment. </li><li>Minimum Qualifications that require a high school diploma are exempt from SB 1310. </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications: At least one year full-time related experience at a four-year college/university and CSCS, NSCA or USAW certification. Experience working for an NCAA Division I Football Program. Related experience working and/or playing at an elite or professional level.</p> <p>Requires: Criminal History Background Check - Level 1</p> <ul> <li>Supervision of student athletes - Includes demonstrating, describing, and holding athletes accountable for proper lifting mechanics. Instructing athletes through proper exercise progressions. Monitoring athletes so that they reach overload and progression. </li><li>Design of scientifically proven strength and conditioning programs for the Track & Field, Cross County and Sailing Strength Coach . Includes conducting needs analysis of sport skills and common injuries, research of proven strength and conditioning protocols, input from sport coaches, Identifying time and equipment constraints, and producing an exercise program the athletes can understand and perform. </li><li>Facility Maintenance- Providing a safe environment for our student athletes to train. Includes equipment maintenance and sanitation, proper consideration to floor plan and flow, communication to facility director regarding temperature and air exchange, and assuring proper lighting. Includes preparing budget requests, identifying equipment and additional needs. Researching types of equipment and approving selections, communication with vendors, and maintaining records of transactions. </li><li>Motivation of student athletes - Includes identifying goals for athletes by interpreting testing data, communicating with sport coaches, and meeting with the student athlete. Provide verbal feedback through training sessions. Provide counseling to student athletes when needed or requested. </li><li>Nutritional counseling- Educate athletes on NCAA compliant and banned substances. Provide nutritional counseling on sound nutritional practices. Interpret body composition data and establish goals to student athletes. </li><li>Testing & Evaluation - Includes identifying scientifically based testing protocols to evaluate student athletes in the areas of athleticism. Maintaining and reporting testing data. Organization and implementation of testing protocols. </li><li>Other duties including but not limited to, recruiting, speaking, research, rehabilitation, travel, camps and clinics, and community relations </li></ul>
