<p>New Heights Charter School is Massachusetts' only public school that involves all grades (6-12) in the Early College approach. Nearly all our 11th and 12th graders are full-time students on a college campus with younger students earning college credits at the school. Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Assist students with their virtual learning in an in person setting; </li><li>Provide substitute teaching coverage for teachers in the school as we transition to a hybrid setting; </li><li>Maintain a current knowledge of all Covid and school policies/procedures and follow them accordingly; </li><li>Role constantly changing to fit the needs at the time/stage of reopening which could include duties such as bathroom or hallway monitoring; </li><li>Supervising students during transitions, breakfast, lunch and afterschool; </li><li>Provides overall support to the student, based on the needs of the classroom and the students' Individual Education Program (IEP) and 504 Plans, if applicable; </li><li>Support students by providing one-on-one and small group intervention and support; </li><li>Maintain discipline and classroom control that fosters a safe and positive environment for all students and staff in accordance with school policies; </li><li>Recognizes when teaching/learning and behavioral strategies are not successful and seeks the guidance of the classroom teacher(s) and specialist(s) to adapt assistance accordingly; </li><li>Model non-discriminatory practices in all activities; </li><li>Communicating effectively with students, families, and colleagues; </li><li>Participating in collaborative curriculum development, grade-level activities, and school-wide functions, events, and trips; </li><li>Maintain and respect confidentiality of student and school personnel information especially as it relates to Covid; </li><li>Perform other related duties as assigned; Qualifications </li><li>Flexible and enjoys dealing with unpredictability; </li><li>Regular and predictable attendance and punctuality; </li><li>Prior experience working in schools and/or urban communities is preferred but not required; </li><li>The ability to create and maintain a climate of respect and fairness for all students; </li><li>Hard-working, energetic, and are willing to learn and adapt; </li><li>The ability to maintain effective classroom management strategies; </li><li>Experience teaching or working with middle and secondary school age children preferred; </li><li>Strong organizational skills, communication skills (particularly with children), and problem-solving skills; </li><li>Evidence of self-motivation, willingness to be a team player, and has a strong sense of personal responsibility; </li><li>Relentless commitment to the mission of educating urban students.
