<p>Job Responsibilities</p> <p>At Kershaw Maintenance, supervises county sign erection crew. Supervises employees in the cleaning of office buildings, restrooms, and grounds maintenance (dusting, mopping, vacuuming, emptying trash cans, cleaning windows, mowing the grass, picking up trash, and etc. Supervises the installation of all special signs and markers that is approved and forwarded to this office to be installed. Inspects all signs throughout the county to make sure they meet the Departments standards. Replace signs if inspection deems necessary. Investigates sign damage due to accidents and maintain accurate records. Maintains weekly and monthly reports, time sheets and cost records; recommends personnel actions including promotions, transfers and disciplinary measures; rates employee yearly according to the Employee Performance Management System. Responsible for ordering replacement signs, post and other essential supplies. Supervises the installation of all special signs and markers that is approved and forwarded to this office to be installed. Performs Welcome Centers/rest areas inspections, inspecting work performed by contractor. Performs minor repairs in Welcome Centers/rest areas such as plumbing, replacing damaged or broken hand dryers, etc. inside and outside. Coordinates work with other crews in setting up complex work zones, detours and road closures according to essential Department's Compliance and Standards are essential. Performs on call for after hour emergencies, including supervising and coordinating crew in the removal of snow and ice from roadways and storm damage.</p> <p>Minimum and Additional Requirements</p> <p>Three and one-half (3.5) years of related work experience; or an approved acceptable equivalence. Necessary Special Requirement: A valid motor vehicle operator's license is required upon entry to the position. Requires attainment of a Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within six (6) months of placement in the position.</p> <p>The physical demands for the essential functions of this position involve bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, climbing, balancing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, grasping and physically manipulating objects of varying size, shape, weight, and material. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. This position requires walking for extended periods, treading rough and uneven terrain, and working in close proximity to motoring traffic and natural environmental hazards. May be required to work outside of normal work schedule, especially during inclement weather and/or other departmental-related emergencies.
