<p>Position Summary</p> <p>The Revenue Auditor 1 serves as a real estate transfer fee books and records auditor and assists in the administration of the real estate transfer fee audit program, ensuring state law, administrative rules, and Department of Revenue procedures are adhered to by conveyers of real property and local government officials. The majority of the real estate transfer fee audits and reviews conducted by this position can be classified as entry level in terms of size and complexity. This position also assists in providing training and outreach to affected stakeholders, such as attorneys, title companies and registers of deeds.</p> <p>This position also serves as a back-up for the audit of complex local government financial reports; perfection of financial and valuation data used for property tax apportionment and state aid formulas; and certification of equalized values for school districts, technical colleges and special districts. Work is performed under close supervision.</p> <p>To view the complete position descriptions, click the following links:</p> <p>Revenue Auditor 1 | Revenue Auditor 2</p> <p>Salary Information</p> <p>The starting pay rate for the Revenue Auditor 1 is $29.05 per hour, the Revenue Auditor 2 pay is between $31.70 - $34.50, depending on experience and qualifications.</p> <p>For Auditors starting at the entry (1) level, there will be two $1.50/hour salary increases: one after the 1st and 2nd year of employment with satisfactory performance.</p> <p>The Revenue Auditor 1 classification is in Pay Schedule 07, Pay Range 04. The Revenue Auditor 2 classification is in Pay Schedule 07, Pay Range 03.</p> <p>Pay will be set in accordance with the State of Wisconsin Compensation Plan in effect at the time of hire. Starting pay for current state employees may vary based on applicable provisions in the Compensation Plan.</p> <p>Job Details</p> <p>Background Checks: Due to the nature of this position, final candidates will be subject to criminal background, fingerprint, and tax compliance checks.</p> <p>I-9 Requirements: Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States (i.e., a citizen or national of the U.S., a lawful permanent resident, an alien authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship) at the time of application. The Department of Revenue does not sponsor work or student visas, either at time of hire or at any later time. DOR participates in E-Verify and will provide the federal government with Form I-9 information for all new employees to confirm authorization to work in the U.S.</p> <p>Probationary Period: A 12-month probationary will be required.</p> <p>Remote Work/Telework: Remote/Telework is offered for two days per week at three months of employment, and three days per week at six months of employment, with a satisfactory performance.</p> <p>Travel: This position requires infrequent in-state travel.</p> <p>Qualifications</p> <p>Minimally qualified candidates will have one of the following:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree or advanced degree with a major in accounting or taxation from an accredited college/university. </li></ul> <p>OR</p> <ul> <li>Combination of academic preparation and experience auditing accounting records and/or procedures to verify accuracy/conformity with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and generally accepted auditing standards (GAAS). </li></ul> <p>OR</p> <ul> <li>Equivalent professional experience auditing accounting records and/or procedures to verify accuracy/conformity with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and generally accepted auditing standards (GAAS). </li></ul> <p>Well qualified candidates will have all the following (in addition to the minimum qualifications):</p> <ul> <li>Experience with forms required to be filed with a county for a conveyance of real estate </li><li>Experience with property assessment and taxation procedures </li><li>Experience with Wisconsin state laws related to Real Estate Transfer tax law and/or administrative rule provisions related to Real Estate Transfer Fee (Tax 15) </li></ul> <p>How To Apply</p> <p>To be considered for this position, you must complete the online application.
