<p>Position Type:</p> <p>Support Staff/Special Education Assistant</p> <p>Date Posted:</p> <p>2/20/2026</p> <p>Location:</p> <p>Sheldon Woods Elementary School</p> <p>Date Available:</p> <p>Immediately</p> <p>Closing Date:</p> <p>Until filled</p> <p>&nbsp&nbspAdditional Information: Show/Hide</p> <p>Notice of Support Staff Posting</p> <p>Position: Special Educational Assistant (K-5) Posting # 3930</p> <ul> <li>Sheldon Woods Elementary </li></ul> <p>Posting Dates: February 20, 2026 Until Filled</p> <p>Reports To: Principal</p> <p>Beginning: Immediately</p> <p>Hours: 29.5 hours per week</p> <p>Monday Friday</p> <p>School year/Part-time</p> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>CPI training preferred </li><li>Good communication/collaboration skills with staff and students </li></ul> <p>Job Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Assist the classroom teacher in implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). </li><li>Provide one-on-one or small group instruction and reinforcement of skills. </li><li>Support inclusion by helping students participate in general education settings. </li><li>Implement behavior intervention plans (BIPs) as directed. </li><li>Monitor and redirect student behavior using positive strategies. </li><li>Provide emotional support, breaks, encouragement, and redirection as needed. </li><li>Collect behavioral data for teacher/IEP team review. </li><li>Help students with, toileting, or hygiene routines (if needed) Ensure student safety at all times, including monitoring for medical needs or seizures. </li><li>Maintain regular communication with the supervising teacher about student progress and concerns. </li><li>Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and professional development. </li><li>Work collaboratively with general education staff to support student inclusion. </li><li>Maintain confidentiality regarding student information. </li><li>Supervise students during transitions, recess, lunch, or field trips. </li><li>Assist in data collection for academic and behavioral progress monitoring. </li><li>Support use of assistive technology and specialized equipment. </li></ul> <p>Other Information:</p> <ul> <li>Able to be flexible and adjust quickly to the needs of the day </li><li>Willing to work in cold weather </li></ul> <p>Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:</p> <ul> <li>Reaching: Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction. </li><li>Lifting: Raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position to position. This factor is important if it occurs to a considerable degree and requires the substantial use of the upper extremities and back muscles. </li><li>Grasping: Applying pressure to an object with the fingers and palm. </li><li>Talking: Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken work; those activities where detailed or import spoken instructions must be conveyed to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly. </li><li>Hearing: Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction, and having the ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and making fine discriminations in sound. </li><li>Repetitive motions: Making substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers. </li><li>The worker is subject to environmental conditions. </li><li>The worker should provide consistent and reliable in person attendance. </li></ul>
