<p>Title: EMT Adjunct Instructor</p> <p>Agency: New River Community College</p> <p>Location: Pulaski - 155</p> <p>FLSA: Exempt</p> <p>Hiring Range: Dependent on academic qualifications and previous work experience.</p> <p>Full Time or Part Time: Part Time</p> <p>Additional Detail</p> <p>Job Description:</p> <p>New River Community College is a two-year state institution of higher education operating under a state-wide system of 23 community colleges. The college is in Virginia's New River Valley, which is also home to two public universities, and which has earned widespread recognition for the quality of life offered to residents. The Dublin campus and Christiansburg site provide modern, well-equipped facilities for the college's career and technical education programs as well as for the college transfer programs. Approximately 4,000 students comprise the student body.</p> <p>The people employed by New River Community College embrace the philosophy that all individuals should have an opportunity to develop and extend their skills and knowledge to increase awareness of their roles and duties as citizens. The college serves the educational needs of the public and assumes a duty to help provide the requirements for trained workers in the region through a combined effort with local industry, business, professions, and government. The college promotes equal opportunity for prospective students and employees.</p> <p>Duties:</p> <ul> <li>Participate as a member of a teaching team, working collaboratively with other full- and part-time faculty to deliver high quality instruction. </li><li>Plan, implement, and evaluate emergency medical services curriculum. </li><li>Teach emergency medical services courses in the classroom, lab, and clinical settings using innovative methods, techniques, and delivery methods that include active learning, instructional technology, and online learning. </li><li>Write and revise course plans. </li><li>Maintain a classroom and lab with the appropriate equipment and supplies. </li><li>Collect, analyze, and use data from assessment of courses and student learning outcomes to evaluate program effectiveness. </li><li>Recommend curricular changes based on student learning outcomes. </li><li>Maintain an environment conducive to teaching and learning. </li><li>Demonstrate skill and knowledge in the teaching discipline. </li><li>Develop and implement student retention and success initiatives. </li><li>Advise students in a proactive manner to assist in retention and program completion. </li><li>Maintain professional relationships with students, colleagues, and external constituents. </li><li>Demonstrate ethical standards of practice within Virginia Office of Emergency Medical Services. </li><li>Collaborate with the coordinator of nursing and clinical coordination specialist to establish/maintain clinical partnerships and relationships with local healthcare organizations. </li><li>Perform other duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>Minimum Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Current unrestricted EMT license in Virginia. </li><li>Certified as an education coordinator by the Virginia Office of Emergency Medical Services. </li><li>Minimum of an associate degree in Emergency Medical Services or related area from an accredited college or university. </li><li>At least 2 years of emergency medical services or other out-of-hospital experience. </li><li>Knowledge of methods of instruction, testing, and evaluation of student that foster student retention and student success. </li><li>Knowledge of current versions of the National EMS Scope of Practice and National EMS Education Standards, and evidenced-informed clinical practice. </li><li>Commitment to community college mission and to emergency medical services education. </li><li>Excellent oral and written communication and effective communication in teaching/learning situations. </li><li>Commitment to innovative teaching approaches, including use of technology as a teaching and learning tool. </li><li>Ability to serve effectively as a member of a team and to maintain effective and courteous working relationships. </li><li>Fairness and flexibility in understanding and working with a wide variety of students. </li><li>Knowledge of emerging trends in emergency medical services and healthcare delivery. </li><li>Willingness to obtain and maintain screening and immunizations required for clinical participation. </li></ul> <p>Additional Considerations:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in emergency medical services or related field from an accredited college or university. </li><li>Experience in community college or higher education Emergency Medical Services education. </li><li>Knowledge of assessment of student learning and program effectiveness. </li><li>Experience working in an CAAHEP/CoAEMSP accredited emergency medical services program. </li><li>Evidence of continuous professional development in emergency medical services. </li></ul>
