<p>The Emergency Department Physician is responsible for providing the most effective delivery of outpatient care while meeting and exceeding compliance standards. The Emergency Department Physician has responsibility for providing a complete range of medical care to patients including examination and treatment of a variety of general medical problems in compliance with National Joint Commission accreditation standards.</p> <p>The physician provides direct patient care in the Emergency Department. The incumbent must meet medically related documentation requirements set forth by Joint Commission.</p> <p>Duties will include:</p> <ul> <li>Evaluation and treatment of the following body systems: skin, eye, ear, nose, throat, cardiovascular, respiratory, digestive, urologic, reproductive, nervous, endocrine, musculoskeletal and hematology. </li><li>Initial and ongoing assessment of patient's medical, physical and psychosocial status. </li><li>Obtain and document a comprehensive medical and psychological history and physical examination. </li><li>Order appropriate diagnostic tests. </li><li>Review and interpret laboratory and take appropriate action. </li><li>Formulates and record diagnostic impressions. </li><li>Refer patients to consultations with specialty clinics </li><li>Provide medical advice to patients, families and community health providers by telephone. </li><li>Manage chronic medical problems with acute exacerbations. </li><li>Manage minor acute medical problems. </li><li>Document patient care in the electronic health record within the prescribed time limits. </li><li>Enter orders into CPRS for medications, consults, testing, etc. </li><li>Demonstrates current clinical practice. </li><li>Attends Medical Center and community meetings, seminars, conferences. </li><li>Follow the process established by the Chief of ED, guidelines, MCM and polices of VHA. </li></ul> <p>VA offers a comprehensive total rewards package. VHA Physician Total Rewards.</p> <p>Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP) Authorized: This position is eligible for EDRP, a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of your start date. Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP Participants are ineligible to apply for the program. Contact VHA.ELRSProgramSupport@va.gov for questions/assistance.</p> <p>Pay: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases</p> <p>Paid Time Off: 50-55 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year and possible 5 day paid absence for CME)</p> <p>Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA</p> <p>Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement)</p> <p>Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory</p> <p>CME: Possible $1,000 per year reimbursement (must be full-time with board certification)</p> <p>Malpractice: Free liability protection with tail coverage provided</p> <p>Contract: No Physician Employment Contract and no significant restriction on moonlighting</p> <p>Work Schedule: 8 or 10 hour shifts;7 day rotating schedule including nights, weekends and holidays.
