<p>Principal JobID: 1171</p> <p>Position Type:</p> <p>Administration/Principal</p> <p>Date Posted:</p> <p>5/9/2025</p> <p>Location:</p> <p>Fred Thomas Middle School</p> <p>Closing Date:</p> <p>05/18/2025</p> <p>  Additional Information: Show/Hide</p> <p>GENERAL INFORMATION:</p> <p>Middle School Principal</p> <p>Fred Thomas Middle School</p> <p>Reports to: Supervisor of Secondary Education</p> <p>Required Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Must have Master's Degree in School Leadership, Administration or Instruction </li><li>Must have at least 5 years of administrative experience at the middle school level </li><li>Must be eligible for certification as a Principal in the State of Delaware </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>School Principal experience </li><li>Training in the DTGSS and DPAS II systems </li></ul> <p>General Description: The Principal will provide leadership and administration which will motivate instructional and support personnel to strive for superior performance so as to provide the best possible opportunities for student growth and development. The principal will sustain Cape Henlopen School District's mission, vision, and promise as it aligns to the Instructional Model and Strategic Plan.</p> <p>Essential Duties and Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Develops, implements and monitors the school improvement plan to improve student learning and progress in all areas. </li><li>Ensures continuous improvement for all learners through high expectations, results-focus, and strong data-based decision-making skills. </li><li>Uses a Multi-Tiered Systems of Support approach to advance student achievement and meet the needs of all learners in all areas of the school day, including but not limited to behavior, academics, and attendance. </li><li>Supports teachers and students to enhance teaching and learning in a personalized learning environment. </li><li>Utilizes student achievement data, and methods to increase student performance through collaboration with school, district, and community resources and supports. </li><li>Serves as the administrative head of the school and maintains responsibility for coordination of the total resources of the school including personnel, financial, and facility. </li><li>Monitors, supports, evaluates, retains, and ensures high quality performance of teachers and staff who implement the vision and promise of the school and district. </li><li>Works cooperatively with district level staff to ensure the school functions at a high level of success. </li><li>Support Equity Initiatives of the District. </li><li>Assigns all professional staff within the building in accordance with their certification and competency. </li><li>Supports a strong, positive school culture and climate focused on student social/emotional growth and development matched with high expectations. </li><li>Creates, develops, and sustains relationships that result in active student engagement in the learning process. </li><li>Communicates and engages all stakeholders in the educational objectives of the school and encourages their participation in efforts to improve the school program. </li><li>Maintains a positive and culturally responsive climate that provides students with equitable opportunities to learn from a highly qualified and diverse faculty and staff. </li><li>Ensures that all policies of the Cape Henlopen Board of Education and adherence to all local, state, and federal requirements are met. </li><li>Maintains a positive professional climate where personal and professional standards and conduct enhance the image of the school and the education profession. </li><li>Consults with teachers, students, parents, and other parts of the school community on a regular basis in order to attain a high level of communication and collaboration. This includes participation in Parent Teacher Organization and other family/community events. </li><li>Possesses a strong passion for Spanish Immersion Programs and will continue to support the development of the Immersion Program. Experience in dual-language immersion is a plus.
