<p>Nature of Work</p> <p>At WorkForce WV this position is in the Contribution Accounting - Status Determination unit. Under close supervision, performs work at the entry level by providing programmatic assistance to employers, accountants, lawyers, and staff when determining the liability of employers regarding the West Virginia Unemployment Compensation (UC) law. Provides the necessary information, forms, and contribution rates to potential employers to properly establish the employer account. Makes determinations of successor liability. Audits and reviews employers' application and documentation for completeness and compliance with WV UC law. Prepares letters and/or field assignments to employers, out-of-state agencies or delinquency control specialists requesting necessary forms or information. Assist the public by telephone, e-mail, mail or in person with questions regarding UC. Uses independent judgment and analysis from receipt of application through entry of account information onto the tax system. Analyzes and audits forms, reports, and documents for accuracy and initiates corrections of errors. Maintains process and research files for data and information. Types a variety of documents from verbal or written instruction. Answer telephone, screen calls, take messages and complaints, and give information to the caller regarding the services and procedures of the unit. Duties also include the interpretation and application of state and federal law as to the identification and registration of employers liable under West Virginia UC law.
